What pets did you have as a kid? |
|
I never had a cat or dog but I did have a bunny and some tadpoles that eventually turned into frogs, although most died before they did so. The ones that survived we let go. I also remember letting the bunny go behind our house. I was so sad.

1. Masmasika (633) | 1 year ago | I had cats and dogs when I was a kid. I could still remember that we always had dogs to guard the house and cats to chase away the mice. I helped fed them and I had fun taking care of them.

2. jess368 (1400) | 1 year ago | When I was real little I had a puppy, hhis name was pluto, and we had to give him back to my grandpa for a while, because we moved to a place that didnt allow dogs. When we went to visit him, he had run away. This was my second heartbreak (the first was sending him back to my grandpa) Then We had another dog when I was in elementary school. She was a husky/wolf mix. Pretty much, the same thing happened to her, we couldnt keep her at the new apartments we moved to, and the people that took her, lost her. Then, I had a pet iguana, gardner snake, and geko. They were pretty cool. The snake got out of the cage somehow, and I accidently drowned the other two while I had them outside. another horrible story, I know, I'm sorry. Now I have a dog named Max. I have had him since he was 4 month old, and he is 10years old now. I love him to death! We have had some close calls with him, but he is a pretty happy old man now!

3. Chevee (3627) | 1 year ago | I have never had a cat as a pet. When I was a kid we would always have a dog as a pet. Whenever we would move from one state to another we would always get another dog if we couldn't take the one we had. That is all I remember having as pets.

snam23 (839) | 1 year ago | I would be very sad if I had to leave my dog every time I moved. How often did you move? Didn't it make you sad?

4. antioxidant (401) | 1 year ago | I had 2 pig-nosed turtles, various fish, boar type hamsters (very rowdy bunch), a white rabbit, a temporary dog of 1 week ( a friend's), a stray black labrador which I didn't keep as pet but it often come to my house (or it doesn't count), and chickens (for a while.. i was hoping for chicks). I never had a real dog or cat as pets. I might want a guinea pig in future.

KatieDidit (887) | 1 year ago | That is funny. We have a pest here called slugs. They're like really big snails with no shell. They love to eat your flower and vegetable gardens. As a kid I heard that a good way to get rid of them was to just pour salt on them. So I did. The poor thing started melting. I felt soooo bad. I ran and got some water to pour on it to try and stop what I'd done but it was too late. It just made a bigger slug puddle. ICK!

snam23 (839) | 1 year ago | That is funny. It seems just like the kind of thing a kid would do at that age. I hope you didn't feel too bad because it didn't do anyone any real harm except the snails, of course.

snam23 (839) | 1 year ago | Turtles are always in my teacher's classrooms for some reason. That really stinks that you had to get rid of the cat. That is very sad what happened to the lizard. Freezing to death although it wasn't your fault so I guess nothing could have stopped it from dying anyway. Happy mylotting!

8. shambhujit (918) | 1 year ago | When I was a kid we had an aquarium with lots of fishes in it. I remember how I used to weep when a fish died. One day I broke the aquarium accidentally and we let all those fishes free in a pond nearby.

snam23 (839) | 1 year ago | I bet you treasured the fish by the sounds of it. I'm sure the fish enjoyed being in a pond and I hope you weren't too sad when you broke the aquarium. Happy mylotting!

9. KatieDidit (887) | 1 year ago | I was lucky and grew up in the country on a nice plot of land. We had numerous cats and dogs, horses, a few sheep and goats, turtles, tropical fish and a parrot for pets. We also had chickens (for the eggs) a couple of dairy cows for the milk and to make our own cheese and butter, and we raised beef cattle for money. Though most of the cattle raised their own calves, each year each of us kids got our own calf to hand raise. My favorite was a little Brahma bull.
If those pets were enough we were good at finding more. Snakes, lizzards, salamanders, crawfish, mice etc. Mom always made us let them go though which was alright. Half the fun was just in catching them.
