How often do you try a recipe from a TV show? |

How often do you try a recipe that is from a tv show? I like to watch Rachel Ray. Her meals are quick and easy and cheap to make. If I miss her shows I check out the site on Fridays and see what she made all week. I try to make a new meal every Sunday for a change. It helps add variety to meals and makes it easier to plan.
Do you watch cooking shows? Which ones do you watch? How often do you watch them? What have you tried recipe wise? Did you family or friends like the new recipe? What would you change to make it your own?
I tried Rachel Rays Apple Cider chicken last weekend. It was delicious. I added a few extra apples and more Cinnamon to taste. It was on her show a while ago but it was in the printed out pile of to try.

1. sparkofinsanity (3525) | 1 year ago | Oh wow, this is too weird! LOL I've just recently discovered Rachel Ray and I try her recipes all the time. And yes, of course, the best was her cider chicken! LOL My hubs is away for weeks at a time now, and my kids are grown and gone, so it's just me and the fridge. So I hadn't been putting much effort into meals for one, until I started watching Rachel. So many of her recipes can be adapted for one to a dozen and that's what I like best about them. I on the hunt now for her cookbook......

Nothing is ever to fancy and yes its either for 1 person-20 people. I adore her. Try to grab a cook book if you can they are just as good as the show.

2. highflyingxangel (8996) | 1 year ago | I don't watch cooking shows very often. I have to be very bored with nothing else on TV before I'll turn it to a cooking TV show to watch it. I've seen some interesting things on those shows but I have never, ever tried anything that I have seen. I don't have the igredients and I don't want to pay a bunch of money to get all that stuff for something that I may or may not like in the end.

4. mibngold (1525) | 1 year ago | Hi, I very rarely follow recipes from any source. I am a "wing it" kind of cooker. I have to admit, I love my own cooking! I have a friend who taught me several new ways to cook, but he'll eat anything. I always said that I have to check the packaging from his meat so that I am sure that it isn't road kill or something that he shot from off of his back deck. The worst thing that he ever did to me was the time he made beans & rice for me & I scooped up this thing...odd looking thing & it was a damn pigs ear...OMG! I am a very picky eater, so I suppose that is why I like to make up my own recipes. No one ever complains about the stuff that I make, so I suppose that is a plus on my side! Happy New Years to You!

5. cyberfluf (2619) | 1 year ago | I don't watch cooking shows, but from time to time I do try the recipes that are in the free magazine of our supermarket. They are quick, cheap, easy and tasty and very well written. They come with good pictures of what the dish should look like, for how many people the dish is and an exact price and where to get the ingredients. They are great and because they are allready printed you can easily tear out your favourites and save them in an organizer.

6. comfort55 (709) | 1 year ago | Hi, here in India, I like to watch Sanjeev Kapoor's Tv show where he gives various recipes. Whenever I watch, I note down most of them, and keep on trying one or the other. Sometimes they come out really good, but sometimes it's a flop show. Most of the times I try only the simpler ones where less ingredients are given.

7. BlueGoblin (1400) | 1 year ago | The only thing I know how to make is scrambled eggs. I tried to make hamburgers once and it tasted gross. I fry them on the grill and they taste fine. I don't know what is going on. Burgers taste better on the grill anyway. I'm not a very good cook so I don't try anymore. I just make frozen pizzas or go to the Bob Evans if I want a home cooked meal. I wish I could cook like the people on the Food Network but it takes time and I don't like wasting food.
I did try making cookies and that was an epic fail. I put too much baking soda in them or something. They tasted dry and salty. I suck. I know.

8. taface412 (1986) | 1 year ago | Occassionally I will watch cooking shows. Usually it's the Katie Brown workshop on the weekend on PBS when I am cleaning up. I turn it on and listen to her ideas, she covers everything from decorating to cooking. And if I find a recipe I like I jot it down, she doesn't skim over the ingredients that fast so I have time to write them down. But mine hardly ever turn out like theirs. Even with the same ingredients.
So I try it and if it works I keep it. If it don't I toss it.
I have one recipe or cookign tip I learned from Rachel ray and love it and use it all the time. It was her spaghetti sauce with meatballs in 30 minutes. I just make up my sauce and my meatballs and let it boil for 30-45 minutes. Then I just make my noodles and wah-la homemade sauce and meatballs.
Love her.

9. hardworkingmom (812) | 1 year ago | I watch Rachel Ray too. I've tried 1 of the recipes that was on her show a couple of months back. The Cheddar cheese balls. But other then that I haven't but I did think about trying some othem from the cooking channel but just haven't had the heart. I'm the one that will see it on TV and it might look interesting but then when I think about doing it I just can't bring myself to do it.

10. razcal2267 (9492) | 12 months ago | I am not sure I can actually say how often I try a recipe I have seen on television. Sundays Food Network day here. I get up make breakfast and then crawl back into bed and watch all the Food Network shows until 2pm when the challenges start.
I take away great ideas from most of the shows. I almost always tweak the recipe to make it my own. If I like something Paula Deen has made I will take that recipe and figure out how I can get whatever it is to taste as close to hers without all the butter, mayo or fat in general. If it is from Rachael Ray I do sort of the same thing as she (even when she says it is) doesn't cook in a very healthy way. I really like watching Big Daddy's House. I haven't tried any of those recipes yet though.
One recipe that I have used bit not tweaked in any way is: Roast Prime Rib of Beef with Horseradish Crust http://www.foodnetwork.co... (Horseradish crust is also good on turkey bre*st and a whole chicken) And
