I need help with computer music recording systems.

I have just put together a home recording studio & are having problems with digital sample rates. I am also looking for information on "IRQ's". I have had a look at my bios & dont seem to be able to find the correct area to change the IRQ for certain items within my hard drive. I have asked Australian Tech support people to help & it all seems to difficult... Can anybody help ?
