do you let your kids watch the daily newscast?

i am guessing that most countries have newscasts at an appointed hour (ours is on at 6 pm here where i live) and sometimes we let our kids watch the news, but they are older (11 and 15) so i think it is important for them to know what is going on in the world. what do you think? when would you start letting your kids watch the news?

yes I do let both of my kids watch the news one is 8 and the other 2 I feel it is good because not only are they learning but see what is going on in the world for I feel they live in it so why should they not know what is going on

For some reason my kids like to watch the weather channel or the weather on the news. My kids are much younger. Usually I don't even watch the news so my kids don't watch it either. I think 11 and 15 is a reasonable age to let them watch. They do need to know what is going on in the world and it is a good time to point out the good things and the bad. Reasons to talk about why they shouldn't drink and drive or why they shouldn't do this and that. I think it is a good conversation provoker when you need to have those talks with your kids that are the harder ones to start.
