Well if your society is liberal enough to accept live-in relations, then yes, marriage is a bit overrated. Actually its not the marriage but rather its consequences, that marriage seeks to protect. Once you get married, you enter into a social bonding with another person and that person’s family. Certain code of conduct and behaviour is expected of you, certain thresholds, which should be considered for the benefit of all. And then you start a family and there are innocent kids involved who are the worst sufferers of a broken marriage. So once married, we all are expected to follow some rules and regulations. However, as I said, if your society is OK with just living-in, then there’s nothing better than that. A no-strings attached relationship which is less emotionally, physically and financially taxing.

Hi there!I guess it is still important if you get married by a pastor or a minister or have a civil wedding. Please don't get me wrong but Marriage is not a trial and error process that if it doesn't work, you go out.Marriage has something to do with love, trust and respect. If you love each other, then get married legally.Marriage is designed by God wonderfully.
