Having a hard time sleeping at night

As of late, I've been having trouble falling asleep, sometimes it takes me more than an hour lying in bed before I will fall asleep. I believe the main reason is due to my late sleeping hours over the holidays, so now that school started again my body is still trying to adjust back to "school mode." Anybody experienced this before and can offer any advice for me to sleep better? Sleep=good for the body and mind, so I would like to be able to sleep more so that I won't be a grouch in the morning and not pay attention during class. Do you wish you could change your sleeping habits for the better?

I think that happens to many of us young people. However, I found a good way in solving this. What I did was on the first few days of school, I'd get back to my afternoon jogging - I'll try to exhaust myself so that I'd be too tired to resist sleep in the evening. I'll do this every other day of the next two weeks. And on the third week, I'm back in my "school mode" sleeping habits. Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Hi reichiru, it’s really annoying that if we couldn’t fall asleep and just lying there for quite some time keep on thinking many other things in the quiet night, when others are already in their sweet dream Yeah, I agree that your body still needs some time to get it adjusted as usual and back to the regular bedtime again. So don’t worry for it’s a matter of time only. I have great difficulty getting off to sleep if I still thinking over problems facing. I notice that to study problems before going to bed would make me to feel energetic and could hardly fall asleep. We would feel tired and listless the following day if without sufficient sleep. This would disturb our normal life and schedule. So I always try my best not to have over cerebration before going to bed. I don’t take any beverage with caffeine as well so that I won’t suffer from insomnia. Happy posting and good luck.

I have found it hard to get back into the swing of getting up early too. I recommend a hot bath and perhaps a cup of camomile tea, or hot milk if you prefer. This should help you to relax your body and mind and hopefully get a good night's sleep. I sometimes find that reading a few pages of a book can help to relax me, but nothing too exciting as that will just keep me reading until the early hours!
