Your child's birth.. tell me about it. | | | | I love to hear stories about children being born. Some are so exciting. Some are sad. Some are scary. Some are funny while others are downright weird. Children often love to hear about when they were born and my son was no exception. I found myself telling him often but I left out the details and just shared with him my feelings of first seeing him and holding him and how much love I never knew I could have for another person. Tell me about the day you had your babies (even if they are older now). I'll share mine first: A year before my son was born, I had several miscarriages - one being rather emotional and difficult. I was already 6 months pregnant and I lost the baby because of an ovarian cyst the size of a small watermelon. I ended up needing surgery to have my left ovary removed and I thought I was doomed to never have children. But I was wrong! I found out I was pregnant 4 months after my ovary was removed and I was overjoyed but also really scared that I would lose this baby too. I tried not to get too excited and I pretty much kept things to myself for most of the pregnancy. The doctors told me he would be due on January 3rd, 1991. On December 3rd, 1990 - I went in for a sonogram and they told me he was already 9 pounds and was going to be a very large baby. I was worried considering I still had a month to go before his due date. January 3rd came and went and no baby was born. Then they changed my due date to January 16th but that date came and went without any baby being born. Now I'm starting to get really concerned because over a month earlier they told me he was already 9 pounds! Imagine what he was going to weigh when he finally decided to enter this world! On January 22nd, around 8pm, I started to feel some pains but they were not consistent and they would come and go - some times close together and other times really far apart. I was 20 years old without any female to talk to and I'm one of those people who does not want to be a burden or for people to think I'm concerned for nothing so I kept waiting for the contractions to be "normal". The whole time I thought it was false labor. I also had no lost my "plug" and the water had not broken so I thought it was all a bunch of nothing at that point. Finally later that night, they stopped completely and I went to sleep. On January 23rd, everything was back to normal until about 7:30pm when the pains started up again. This time I said forget it.. I was going to the doctors and if it was nothing, then so be it but better safe than sorry. When I walked into the hospital the nurses laughed and said I did not look like someone in labor. They wanted to brush me off but I was mad. Just because I can contain my pain doesn't mean they should have laughed at me - that was the reason I didn't come in sooner! But they said they would go ahead and hook me up to the machines and see what was going on. Sure enough, I was in labor. He was still really high up and had not dropped. They had to break my water and they attached that thing to his head. Ends up he was in fetal distress and had swallowed some of the amniotic fluid so next thing I know - they are pulling cords out of the wall and rushing me to the ER for an Emergency C-Section. I was a nervous wreck.. they had to do a spinal and I was in shock .. shaking like crazy. They had this super sweet big nurse come in and hold me up so they could put the shot in my back. Shortly thereafter.. the doctor sitting by my head says "congratulations". I said "what is it!?" No one had bothered to tell me - I guess they were too busy making sure he was o.k. I turned my head and all I could see were two little legs kicking around. They took him to NICU and the doctors sewed me up but while they were doing that, I heard them talking and they said "it's a good thing she came in when she did - had she waited another hour, he wouldn't have made it". Even though I had a c-section - I was determined to see and hold my baby. He was in NICU and they said I would have to walk down there if I wanted to see him so within 24 hours, I was out of my bed and SLOWLY walking down the hall to see my little miracle. I still remember the day they let me go in and hold him for the first time. That day will forever be burned into my memory. When he finally came out of NICU, I remember they would ask if I wanted to be woken up to feed him during the night and I said "YES!" while the other new mom's in the room opted to have the nurse feed their babies while they slept. I wanted to spend every moment I could with him even if it meant waking up at 2am to feed him. Those were our special moments together.. where I would talk to him and count his finger and toes.. those are moments I will cherish for the rest of my life. We bonded and I wouldn't have traded it for the world. I am so thankful for this beautiful young man that God gave me. He has been the biggest blessing in my life. He will be turning 18 next Friday and it seems like the years have just flown by. I want to rewind the clocks and start over. He has been such a joy to raise and to call my son. I wish everyone had a son like mine. | | | | | | | | | | Unique Video Game Party Bring a Mad Dog Video Game& Laser Tag Experience To Your Party! www.MadDogParty.com

| | Depends which child. My most recent( and last) birth was my son. Dec 10, 2008 This time I had a planned c-section. He was born at 7:57 am. We had the blue curtain routine. With my daughter, my mother was telling me a joke. I don't remember the joke. But I was laughing really hard. And my water broke. We went to the hospital. I was in labor for several hours. I got to 10 cm dilated. And she got stuck. Basically they had to push her back up then do an emergency c-section. All I can say is thank goodness for c-sections. I have a girl and a boy I might not have been able to have otherwise. | | | | | | | HeavenUnaware (988)

| | Yes, thank goodness for c-sections! I forgot to mention that my son was born on January 23rd at 11:23pm. He ended up only weighing 7 lbs 13oz and was 21 1/2 inches long. I have no clue why they said he was already 9 pounds back on December 3rd but he wasn't large at all. He was almost 3 weeks late! | | | | ersmommy1 (11456)

| | i gave birth 10 years ago to my one and only son. my doctor said i'm due april 15, but i doubted her. i was thinking, how can she know? even i didn't know when it was conceived. on the morning of april 15, i woke up getting ready for work, i noticed blood stain on my underwear. i told my husband and we called one of our godmothers. we both are clueless on what to do. she said to do some walking, not to panic its not gonna happen yet. so i walked but i didn't believe her. so we went to the hospital around 8am. at the hospital they asked me to walk some more, and more. i even called my friends on the cellphone and told them "hey i'm giving birth right now!" but they thought i was joking. pain starts setting in around 7pm. the nurses are asking me if i want epidural i said no thanks. i just consider it to be a worse case of dysmenorhea. but when i can't stand the pain, i growled at the nurse "give it to me now!" when the doctor told me to push, i know i am pushing but i don't feel anything happening, but the child came out. i gave birth 12:12 midnight. after he came out, and the doctor said its a boy. i passed out. when i woke up they were stitching me. I remember i said to myself then "this is embarassing". there were like 6 people looking at my thing. then i passed out again. when i woke up i was in recovery, i felt so dizzy because of the drugs they gave me. when my son came in for his first feeding at first i was afraid to hold him . i scared i might break him or something. he looks so fragile. the first time i held him, i understood what they meant when they say - i am complete. | | | | | | | HeavenUnaware (988)

| | That's an amazing story. I have two children. I got pregnant with my daughter when I was 17. When her father and I got married, I was 3 centimeters dilated - my grandmother said she was bringing tongs to the wedding just in case. Nearly a month later, after a lot of false starts, I checked into the hospital to be monitored. The following morning they did an ultrasound to make sure everything was okay. The following evening, it was decided that they would start me on Pitocin (my labor just wouldn't regulate itself, and it was stagnating) very early the next morning. They wanted to give me a small dose of Ambien to ensure I got rest, and they were going to do that at 8. I asked them how long it would take to kick in, and they said about fifteen minutes. I told them they'd have to wait, because it was the last night of American Idol, and I wanted to see who won! (Kelly, of course) After American Idol, they gave me Ambien, which barely worked. They started Pitocin at 2 AM. They broke my water at about 7 AM. I broke down and asked for an epidural not long after, but they shot demerol into my IV instead. It didn't do much for the pain - but I passed out between contractions, which worried my husband. He tried to wake me up, but I told him to shut up and leave me alone, because I was sleeping. Then at one point my doctor came in and looked at the monitor, then left. My mom whispered to me, "Hey, Kim, you just missed the hot doctor." (He WAS hot). My eyes flew open, and I told my mother it hurt. She said she knew. I said, "No, it really hurts!" She tried to comfort me. I said, "Mom, she wants to come out," and she said it would be soon, at which point I rather vehemently said, "No, I want to PUSH!" My mom fetched the doctor, who went to check how far I was dilated - but couldn't, because he felt my daughter's head instead. Ten minutes later, she was out. It was the one month anniversary of our wedding. I said "Happy Anniversary, honey, what did you get me?" With my son, I was in preterm labor, and was in and out of the hospital a lot. One day I started having contractions after watching Mean Girls, but I didn't want to go to the doctor, because I figured I'd get sent home. When it started getting worse, my husband and mother convinced me to go in. They monitored me, determined that it was, in fact, time for the baby to come, and then said the magic words every laboring woman loves to hear: "Would you like an epidural?" Hell yes, I would like an epidural. BEST DRUG EVER. I spent the night rather comfortably, even though they put me on Pitocin as well - although I did throw up a time or two. Then the next morning I started feeling very strange. The epidural had worn off on my right side. Not fun. It was literally like being torn in half - excruciating pain on one side, complete numbness on the other. I also felt vaguely wet, so I realized my water had broken. They sat me up to do another epidural, and as soon as they sat me up, I had this weird feeling. It wasn't like the urge to push, exactly - more like I needed to go the bathroom. It was VERY uncomfortable. They laid me back down and the epidural started to kick in, but the strange feeling didn't stop. The nurse told me the doctor would be along in a few more minutes, he wanted to give the epidural enough time to kick in completely. He came in a few minutes later, and lifted the sheet to examine me. Without even touching me, he looked at the nurse and said "Go tell the woman down the hall to wait a few more minutes - this baby is crowning!" Well, at least that explained that weird feeling! Within a few moments, my son was born. Apparently I have to be funny when I give birth! | | | | | | | | | | | | Birthday Cards Create and send your own Animated Diwali eCards & Greetings - Free! www.MyFunCards.com | add comment | | | |

| | Ohh then she has the best birthdate in the world :) Happy Birthday to her! I also lost another baby after my son was born. When he was 1 1/2, I had a miscarriage. Then several years later, after trying to have another baby without any success.. I found out I had pre-cancer and would need a hysterectomy. It was such a hard thing to go though - especially since I had wanted another baby so badly and that was the end of a dream for me. I'm just so happy I have my son - he is the best son I could have ever asked for! | | | | | | | | | | | Party Supplies Themed Party Supplies & Favors. | | Well, there's really not much to say except I had all 4 of mine at home, no pain medicine just me and my mid wife and my hubby. as I went on to have my 2nd and 3rd and 4th child, my oldest had been there for every birth of his brothers and sister. I always wanted to have my kids at home and I was able to do that. my first one came and very quite I thought he was dead, he was just busy looking around and probably trying to figure out where in the world was he.lol he was 9 lbs 8 0z yes very big boy, and I was 98lbs before I got pregnant with him. I had 3 mis carriages after him and finally a few years later I have my 2nd son, he was also very quiet when he was born. again I thought he was dead, but when I seen him he was just looking around as his brother did. he was 8lbs 12oz, very little hair of course.lol and then 2 yrs later I had another little boy, he came into this world with his mouth wide open screaming his lungs off, and didn't quite till it was time to take a nap 2 hrs later, he slept for 12 hrs and woke up very hungry.lol he too was 8 lbs and 12 oz, funny because my 2nd oldest was june 7 and my 3rd was june 8th, so we have birthdays on same day.lol then after my 3rd son 3 yrs later I finally had my daughter, she was the smallest, she was 7lbs 8oz, she was also very quiet, little crying, not much she was more interested in everyone around after she was born, she was a curious little baby, she started watching T.V. 2 weeks after she was born, she would be bobbing her head and just listening to the music on the T.V. and she is still the same. so all mine were born at home and I wouldn't do it any other way. and it's alot cheaper. we enjoyed every minute of it. and I would do it all over again in a heart beat and not change anything. | | When I was pregnant with my daughter I started preterm labor at 22 weeks. It kept going and kept having to be stopped until she was born at 37. I had numerous Terbutaline shots, was on magnesium in an IV for a week and a half, on pills round the clock. But I got her to term! I ended up with preeclampsea (sp) so they had to induce labor. Everything was going good and fast. I was in labor for 8 hours, and was 8cm with NO meds at all and then everything changed. Her heartrate started dropping so they had to do an emergency csection. It took me a long time to come to terms with the csection, and the fact that I didn't even get to hear her cry. But she's here so that's the important thing. She's now 2 and a half years old!! We're currently pregnant again with a boy. I started preterm labor at 22 weeks exactly with him too. They took me off work and I'm on complete bedrest until he's born. The dr wont let me do a VBAC but that's ok. Hopefully I can get him to term too! | | | | | | | | | | Birthday Card Looking For Birthday Card? Find It Nearby With Local.com!
