'Be careful about reading health books. You may die of a misprint.'
This quote from Mark Twain just reminded me of how a misprint led me to a mixing up some years back. What about you, have you ever goofed up things due to mis reading or mis print?

Goofed up due to misreading and misinterpretation, many times . Mis print - not really.
Goofed up during an exam on misinterpreting a situation and question posed and wrote something which i later realised was a whole of of rubbish in respect to the questions asked.
Then there was this medical prescription which had wanted me to take a medication after meal. I took it before and what a fir of belching i got into.
And then coming to the health part of it, had read something about some exercises for a stiff neck only to worsen it as the instructions were not clear.
And what mix up did you get into due to the misprint ?

Mixing up questions during examinations is very common , even with good students. I guess, we all have been there at some point!
It's very easy to goof up with the prescription, Alokn. The doctor's scribble some most incomprehensible things on earth, don't they?

That reminds me, once a doctor was giving a speech on his daughter's wedding and after a while he stopped. Everyone thought he was getting emotional and then the doctor said, 'any pharmacist here?' !!

Goofing up with recipes could be fatal Faith? Did that make you discover a new dish altogether?

I am trying to remember any personal examples and I am coming up short! Twain's quote is very true though. It's human nature to assume the worst, especially when it comes to researching a self-diagnosis when we don't feel quite right. The brain has an uncanny way of seeing specific references and giving them far more priority than we really should! Why just accept we have a common cold if we can isolate certain references and then convince ourselves mentally that it could possibly be pneumonia!

Yes, I think Mark Twain is right, not reading the fine print on the health books or on the medicines could be sometimes be fatal. Recently, one of my colleagues's better half landed in trouble, when the chemist could not properly read the prescription and handed over her a double strength medicine, which she also failed to check and took on reaching home. She is already a patient and suffering from blood pressure etc., on taking the double strength medicine dose, she nearly fell unconscious and was taken to the nearby nursing home in the midst of the night. When the attending Doctor was consulted next day and he asked for the medicines, when were taken, then only he told my colleagues, how a callous mistake on chemist's part (and on their part also) could be fatal. I always try to read the health books very carefully and if I find contradictory details in two articles in two books, I do not apply them practically.
Good Post!

This is sad! I think, we should not take medicines like that, better still we skip is altogether. It could have been fatal. i hope she is doing fine now.

She is better now and my friend has become more alert now, while buying medicines. Thanks for showing your concern.

I don't usually trust anything I read or hear. If anything piques my interest then I take the time to do further research. The internet is a very good way to validate health claims.Cheers!!
