| | I have recently joined the loyalty programs of a couple of the local airlines and it is to get the free tickets or the upgrades whenever possible. No that i'm a very frequent flyer, but they also have a tie with Matercard for me to to be able to convert the points earned under the credit card to miles on the loyalty program of the airlines. Better a free air ticket then some of those gifts and certificates that they have on the card points redemption. | | | | | | |

| | I don't travel enough for this to be an incentive for me to stay with one airline. So I will look for the lowest price always when flying. My brother-in-law, however does alot of flying for business so he belongs to several programs. He has taken advantage of using his miles in a variety of ways. He is able to get get about 4 domestic round trip tickets a year. He has also used his miles for theme park tickets and hotel stays for vacations. | | | | | | |

| | Though i'm a frequent flyer to neighbouring countries, but i'm not a member of any airlines.. ONe reason is that, i'm always choosing the cheapest available flights to fly.. ON top of that, it takes a long time for me to accumulate my mileage and sometimes the timing of those flights clash with what i wanted.. Thus, i dun wanna restrict myself to certain flights only. | | | | | | |

| | tonytt2009, I would not call them loyalty programs in the first place. I believe the more appropriate term will be Frequent Flyer Program, and it is unlike the aforementioned like supermarkets or departmental stores. Yes, I am a premium qualified member of a certain reputable airline and her partners in the alliance. I think above the perks of a free, discounted, upgrade of air travel, hotel accommodations, car rentals and other travel related perks - I feel that the recognition and essential services that comes with it really makes traveling a less mundane and hassle free. Imagine, priority exclusive check in service, excess baggage allowance, priority baggage handling, airport lounge facilities, inflight meals, arrival and departure transfers, inflight butler service, timely class upgrades, and etc. just makes these participation simply worthwhile. Repeats on these worthy airline(s) would not be an issue for us as end users and certainly a neither case for these hard working companies. So, I would say that this is another picture of a win-win situation picture. Cheers. | | | | | | |

| | Exactly~they sometimes call it F.F.Program~lol~I think the most attractive things are the piority check in & baggage handling, the airport lounge facilities~as well as the upgraded mileage accumulation plan~lol~ Thanks for your response~ | | | |

| | tonytt2009, I do not know about you, but where I am from, we have special numbers to call in for our reservations, ammendments and ad-hoc arrangements. The moment we quote our membership numbers, all our details i.e. names, seating preferences, meal preferences, last trip details and whatever issues I have brought up will be there. All I have to do is just dispense away the nitty gritty details and get on with my necessaries and done. I just do not have to worry if my preferences had been requested and get a rude shock that it is unavailable at check in. Also, those timely calls when the intended flight has been delayed or brought forward. Just to make traveling hassle free and enjoyable. I tell you, whoever came up with this program certainly deserves a Nobel. Cheers. | | | |

| | Yes I did join when I was in the Philippines since my work back then required me to travel from time to time. I was really excited about it but an opportunity came for me to work abroad thus the miles I accumulated back then might have been forfeited. It's a local airline so I can't travel nowadays with that airline. Maybe if I will get back to my homecountry I will try to check if I can still continue my membership with them. | | | | | | |

| | It's not bad anyway,I mean working abroad. It'll be a great working experience for you during the time abroad. For the membership of your domestic airline company,I supporse it'll be valid as long as you keep it,however, the mileage has the effect date~Anyway, this is so kind of extra benefit of flying~just relax and enjoy~~ | | | |

| | I do not know what is available in China, but here in Canada it pretty much boils down to two reward program choices, AirMiles and Aeroplan. With both you do not necessarily have to get the points by flying, you can get points by shopping at participating stores. And you can cash in your points in some things other that air travel too. For example I use the AirMiles program freqently by buying merchandise at the local Shell gas station, the local A&P grocery store, and at the PharmaPlus drug store. When I get enough points I cash them in for grocery coupons. I rarely use the other program Aeroplan although I am a member, there does not seem to be many stores that use the Aeroplan that I frequent. It has similar programs to the other one I use AirMiles. | | | | | | |

| | That's amazing~It's good to use the points to redeem something you want for free~Here in China, they're quite a number of reward programs, like SC,China Airline and some distric airline companies. They did provide the redeemed points just like you mentioned, however,I'd like to keep the points to upgrade and/or redeem the free tickets~lol~ I'm a member of star alliance which includes the Canada airline~~lol~I shall be accumulate some points when fly with Canada airline in March this year~~lol`~ Have a nice day`~ | | | |
