You guys ever wonder where we would be if our hominid ancestors had not discovered fire? Like the omnivorous bears...we would still be eating raw seeds & berries, cold starchy tubers....dinosaur tartare! There is a new diet (can't say catching fire)...the "raw food" movement, they say that food that sustains our bodies to the highest nutrional level is straight from the vine, and fresh from the earth..and that cooking compromises the vitamins and minerals! Acrylamide, they say, is a cancer-causing formation created by high temperatures in roasting, frying and baking! I tried and I failed, lasted a few days...6! I did not get the sparkling eyes, the glowing skin....the extra vim & vigor! I really tried; but "cheeze" made by blending raw nuts, "noodles" that were really grated zucchini, "crackers" made from dehydrated chick peas..."pancakes were patties made from flaxseed & cocnut oil! There are a million recipes...and the only appliances I used was my blender, dehydrator & sprouter.....but I think we humans, must have adapted to cooked foods in a way that no longer allows us to efficiently process raw foods! I now, know that I will benefit from the greater consumption of "raw" foods, but I am certain, I will not compromise my life adding some chicken, fish, beef! So, I have fessed up my New Year's failure...did you succeed..and have you tried this diet?

I am not into raw food I am afraid. The last time I ae raw food by mistake was a salmon that I mistook for smoked salmon. I just puked the bitten piece of fish and I felt sick for a few minutes.

There are many "raw" foods that I truly enjoy...and do eat a lot of raw fish in my favourite ethnic food, which is Japanese! (That is my choice, if I ever get to eat out.) "Seviche" is one of my favourite foods...lime cured cod! But I just could NOT remain on this "raw" food diet.....which made me think, thank goodness, we invented fire! Cheers!

I dont like the sound of any of these foods, and raw well for vegetables sometimes but I can digest them that well and raw meat is an absolute no no.

Hey, winterose, it was quite the experience! It is supposed to be a way of cleansing...and is quite a "fad" right now, and one of the reasons that I opted into it...there now are restaurants (including one in Montreal) that is promoting this way of eating! I have never looked more forward to a good hot meal! Thanks, dear, hope you are warming up!
