13 kinds of fruits during new year

I am very curious about the tradition of 13 kinds of fruits during new year. Every new year i did not complete the 13 kinds of fruits, i only have 5 or 8 kinds but this new year i completed the 13 kinds of fruits. Do you believe this tradition? thanks for your comments.

This tradition send fruit prices sky-high during the new year and I really don't believe it brings prosperity. Hard work does. Cheers!!

hahah, I don't believe in this tradition. what is the meaning of that? why 13 fruits? well, if they say you will be successful in the year if you have 13 kinds of fruits? I don't believe that because that has nothing to do with how you strive to be successful. If you will just have 13 fruits and do nothing? you will not prosper. But even if you did not have 13 fruits and you work hard and strive for success? you can really have it of course with God's help.

hi celestial...its fun to follow this tradition from the chinese but sometimes i think the sellers of the fruits are taking advantage of the said tradition..its so sad..all prices of fruits are going up during new year! personally nope..i don't not believe on this...but still want to buy fruits anyway since i like fruits..

Thanks for the response. I agree with you, i dont believe on this tradition but because many friends in the market gave me fruits that is why i reach more that 13 kinds of fruits. But I notice that almost or 80-90% of people around the world observe this tradition....and believe it.

No I don't although every new year we are making sure that there are variety of fruits on the table. It's just a matter of practice in the family but it's not really being superstitious. It's like observing abundance to start a new year. I can't reach 13 kinds of fruits though.

I agree with you, for me i do this not because its a tradition but just to feel the abundance to start a new year. This new year more than 13 kinds of fruits on my table because many friends in the market gave us fruits that is why i reach more than 13 kinds of fruits... hehehe...
