This daughter of our has gone to visit her granddaughter and that family, she will be gone 6 weeks, not just visiting them but friends also. I think this is very important for people to do. To many times we get so attached to our daily lives that we don't visit enough. I know many don't have that chance but I think it's important to do if you can.

ya i too think its really very important to keep in touch with family like grandparents atleast for a week or two , once or twice in a year.. it will build good respect, atttitude in our children..if we r grown up we have to visit them becos it also brings happiness in their life and also gives us lil bit break for our daily works... finally all the Good grace of our elders will always be there with our children and us.

I think it is better to keep in "real" touch then via Facebook, Myspace and similar social services. People have lost contact and sometimes we all forget how it is to have real friends, how to talk with them (without LOLs, LMAOs, smilies, etc.) nor how to behave properly. We are alienating from each other. It is important to make a visit once in awhile to your friends which aren't near you.

This is good but is it better than the phone, at least you can hear their voices.

That is a lovely thing to do. Of course, not all of us can manage six weeks away at at a time, and distance can be a problem. My sister and my daughter/grandaughter live 100 miles from me in opposite directions, and I love to go and visit them. I wish sis would come here as well but she rarely does. Of course, my two girls come here a lot. I also have friends all over the country and love my weekend visits with them a well. It's not so easy to get together with family and friends who are overseas, but just occasionally it happens.
