I really want to experience hosting a garage sale. I have lots of stuff to get rid of. Well, some of it were given to us but we think we have no room to store it. Some of the items we've bought in thrift stores. My hubby keeps on collecting junk from his customers and we have a lot of stuff inside and outside the house. I plan to have a garage sale but no idea of how to do it. My hubby is too busy to think about that. Do you think I can do it? like labeling and pricing, and everything. I hope those who are experts in garage selling will give me tips. And those who are buying also from garage sale maybe can give me an idea. I never have experience selling or buying from a garage sale. Thanks for your ideas, I need help.

Welcome to America! Lets see, first you are going to need to get some tables to put stuff on, people don't like to bend over to look at items. Put the kids toys in boxes and put them on the ground, kids will dig through boxes to find the good stuff, they may even have a sibling hold their feet while they go in. Put the better stuff in the middle, let people browse a little way up your driveway before they see the good stuff, maybe they will have something in their hands when they get that far. Have at least $100.00 in change so you can give people their change without asking for fives or ones. Make sure you are willing to bargain, people love to think they are getting a good deal by negotiating. Make it a two day sale and on the second day make eveything half price. Let the shoppers of the first day know that, they will bring friends back and you'll be able to get rid of a lot of stuff. Price it how you think it would sell, use masking tape and a sharpie marker. Have fun!

Hi Bebs, I am sure you can do that. Start pricing or maybe you can just put all items in a box which cost the same and so on and so forth! I have not tried this but for sure that is just easy.... when you are ready, inform any of your friends about it, and also prepare some poster! Good luck!

Garage sales are a wonderful way to get rid of things that have lost their utility. I suppose the thing to do would be to put up a sign that says "garage sale" and see if anyone comes to buy. Cheers!!

Hi friend! We are doing regular garage sale in our church actually. It is our way of raising fund for our "Rise Up and Build" project. During this activity, we the members bring any stuff in our home that we don't use anymore but still in good condition, or anything we full like selling to help the church in fund raising. We are not getting any share form the proceeds. All the money are voluntarily given to the church fund. It is always a happy event everyt ime we host garage sale. Each of the members benefit as well because we sort of getting treasures from each others excess. Like a set of unused dining ware are being sold at almost more than half the actual price, or slightly used blenders, thermos, clothes, or table lines, doilies, accessories, shoes, even refrigerators, TV, sala sets etc. at prices very cheap price. We also do invite the neighborhood or non members who always look forward to our garage sales. It's not actually a tough job. I think you can handle it. With pricing, it is your choice. Of course if the stuff has been used you have to label at least 70% cheaper than the new one. If unused you can sell 30 to 50%off depending on its marketability. You can also offer buy one take one deal for some stuff. It all depends on your own disposition. But, if the customers are too many to handle, you should have at least one or two who could assist you.

I like garage sales. Just put some folding tables out side your place or even some blankets on the ground and just put little stickers on the items with the price on it. Or make one Table withe just 1 Prize. Say like $2 and everything you want to sell for $2 you put on that same table. That way people don't have to keep asking the Prize. I hope it works out for you.
