Ahhhh....the rural life in the "garden" portion of the Garden State!

There's nothing quite like living in the country, where the trees are still abundant, the farms are still active, there are still horses and cows and the neighbor has an underground bunker full of gun powder & weapons, a half million rounds of ammunition and a hand grenade. Despite my advocacy for the right to own and bear arms, me thinks this was more than a simple case of self-protection.

Yeah - when a burglary in another county leads right to your door, the LAST thing you want to do is slam the door in the cops' faces when you see who it is!!! And, when they learn you're a former cop, you can bet they're going to be even LESS enamored with you, especially after you run and grab a weapon to fend them off! Oh yeah - this guy was brilliant (and probably offered a great deal of insight into why he's no longer a cop, don't you think?)
So.....what should we do with a maroon like this?? As I said - I truly have no problem with gun ownership. RESPONSIBLE gun owners don't need regulations and criminals never obey them. But, there is always someone who goes into overdrive and makes a perfectly good amendment look bad.
I see this guy's photo and imagine some dude with a leather vest, no shirt, a leather headband, tattoos on his arm (one with a skull) and a Harley under a tarp on the side of the house. A real "bad to the bone" bonehead. (No - I don't mean that everyone who dresses this way or who rides a Harley is a bonehead. I'm just going with a stereotype that jumped into my head.)
Have you ever read a news article that set off so many images in your head? And, yet - you want to just shake your head and laugh because it's just all so stupid it's almost cartoon-like that someone actually thought that was a GOOD thing to do? Can you tell my mind is just plain reeling with a myriad of reactions to this story? I mean, I'm sitting not eight miles from this idiot!! What a moron!!

Hey jerz! That sure was one hellofa story! I don't know what
my reaction would be either if I had found out that someone
who lived that close to me had an arsenal that size hidden
right in their house! The part that is really fascinating is
how the hell did he get all those weapons there in the first
place without them being detected? That is quite alarming to
say the least! If the police hadn't have accidently stumbled
onto that windfall of weapons what was he planning to do with
them? Now that's a question I want to know the answer to!

I agree. This guy was up to something, plus he hung with people willing to commit crimes, making it an even greater likelihood they'd be interested in using his weapons (that is assuming it was all strangely innocent - which I doubt). There's just some temptations you don't put near certain people. But, lamebrain had something in mind. He sent up HUGE red flags the minute he opened the door and slammed it shut. I think they refer to that as sh*t for brains, don't they?
