Need to give up drinking |
| |
| I'm still hungover from last night, feel like I've lost a day because I drank too much. I've been partying and drinking for over 10 years now, often feel like I want to give it up but everytime I try I fail. Social drinking is so much part of our culture now that it is hard to give it up, a lot of my friends I only see when we go for a drink, so what would I do with them if I gave it up? There's so many reasons to give it up, I'd have more money, be healthier, I wouldn't make a fool out of myself so often! And no hangovers! Have any of you successfully given up partying and drinking? If so how did you do it? Gradually stop or just stop all of a sudden? | | | | | |

| | Hmmm... If you relly want to stop drinking, you should try having a deal with some of your friends to really force not to drink agian. You could start by not drinking for a few days like 3 days and if you fail, you will have to pay your friend a large amount of money... Just a suggestion to help you out... You could also try drinking only a glass of bear when you go out with your friends... until you can no longer drink when hanging out with them. Hehehehhe.... Just try not to give in to temptations.... | | | | | | |

| | He he I might try the money thing! Would definitely encourage me to stop. But I'd be tempted seeing my friends get tipsy and giggly then probably give in! | | | |

| | Oh... If get tempted try the 1 glass of beer per night. Hehehehe... In that way you can control your drinking habit. By the way how old are you? I think you can be resposible enough to control your drinking habit. | | | |

| | Occasionaly... I only drink if I can no longer escape the one who is asking me to drink. hehehehe... But If I go nightout, I never drink because I have made a promise that my stomach wont look like my dad because of drinking too much... He has a stomach of a pregnant woman... hehehehe.... Hmmm... How bout going into sports? so that you can build your disciplen to your self... It worked for me... I am engeged in Taekwondo and because of that sport, it helped me fullfill my promise to my self... | | | |

| | Yes beer belly is not an attractive look! Is Taekwondo slow like Tai Chi or do you spar and fight? I do street dance but I don't think it's helping with my discipline! | | | |

| | Hahaha... Teakwondo is not a slow martial art sport like tai chi. You also have to spar but there is a part where you can focus on your concentration thus enhancing you discipline to your self. It is called poomsae. It is a synchronized steps on defending you self from attackers. You should try it... Hmm... What a coincedence... I love street dancing but the problem is... I cant dance... I would love to learn but I just dont know where to go and how to start. I really have a stiff body when it comes to dancing... Hehehe... | | | |

| | I was in the same boat. Now I only do it about 1 time a month. I think to myself, do I want to waste tomorrow? This has helped. I will also have a drink or two at home instead then feel fine the next day. | | | | | | |

| | Thats great news from you to hear that you are trying now to stop drinking. Ofcourse drinking has ruined lives of many people. I dont think it is really hard task to acheve. Many people have done it before easily. I know of some people who stopped smoking also. It is about commitment, if you commit to yourself that you are going to stop drinking, it will then become very easy for you. Good luck with your effort! | | | | | | |

| | I pretty much gave it all up overnight once I got married. I was really tired of it all, though, and I was ready for a change. I too was tired of waking up with a hangover. I still drink a little from time-to-time, but I don't allow myself to get really drunk. I usually limit myself to a few beers, and I never go to bars anymore. I usually just have a beer or two either here at home, or at the home of a friend. | | | | | | |

| | That's great that you were able to give it up so easily. I think a lifestyle change is maybe the only way to do it, if you go to bars then it is harder to say no because everyone around you is drinking. | | | |

| | Well, I personally have almost 12 1/2 yrs. Sobriety and would not change it for the world. I have more now than I could ever dream of, and even when it does not seem like a lot what I have is more than I surely had before. I first tried getting sober thru AA in 2001, but was not quite ready to completely do it on my own. But when I really made the choice to admit I was an Alcoholic and quit for good in 1996 it was the best thing I could ever do. This is something you could consider, and try talking to someone there, and then going from there. So you might loose some of your current friends but the New friends you gain could be so much more worth it for sure. | | | | | | |

| | ive had a total of about 3 drinks in my whole life. However, I did used to go out, for like 2 summers. My bf has been for 10 years tho and now he stopped doing everything since we met, very slowly but definitely happened. why dont youtry to meet someone who doesnt party or drink? Either a guy or a girl, its good tohave someone who will hang out with you without getting sick and throwing up, inevitably at the end of EVERY night. Whats so fun about it? I really dont think its fun. I grewout of it in 1 year. it just got boring. but i loved spending time with my bf. I say meet a guy. who DOESNT drink. just stop ruining yourbody. You can develop pancreatic cancer or cirrhosis liver cancer or BOTH. your whole is going to shut down if you are going to drink consistently. dont you feel sick ever? i mean i dont drink or party, and i still sometimes have an upset stomach. i cant imagine how you must feel. your stomach must be begging you to stop. you say you felt like you just lost a day by drinkin and being hungover. well honestly, you didnt lose a day. you lost 10 YEARS. cuz youve been doing it for that long. please just stop. youre beautiful dont let this dirty disgusting crap ruin your insides, and eventually youre outside. start your life. | | | | | | |

| | Hi..thats great , you have intention to stop drinking habit. Some ppl stop drinking and their relationships, optimism, prospect, health and sleep patterns all improve. People need to make changes to their life so they can cope with life's challenges without depending on drinking. My suggestion, you should ignore to deal with friends who can encourage you to drink more and more. Getting some help and support greatly improves your chances of beating the problem. Many people succesfull to give up drinking. I m sure you can kick the habit :). Good luck | | | | | | |

| | you cant change overnight.if you are willing to kick off the habit, you can do it.it is just a matter of discipline.try drinking a few bottles on your next night out then after that, lessen the number of your drinks.Do this until you reach the point wherein your body can no longer take too much intoxication. health wise, doctors recommend a glass of red wine everyday...it is good for your heart.i guess, you can shift into red wine.good luck | | | | | | |

| | Emmapep, I think we should learn to be moderate with our drinks and not get overboard here. I am sure you are wary the cons that is attached to being over drunk. Just be careful and be moderate. Cheers. | | | | | | |
