studies have shown that eating breakfast can help you lose weight. The satiety center in your brain, the one that tells you when you've had quite enough, is stimulated by a big breakfast. you don't crave for food as much when you are satisfied early in the morning.
remember, even a can of softdrinks can have as much calories as a cup of rice! so when you curb your cravings by eating breakfast, you actually eat less the entire day.
i have posted more weight loss tips on my blog, http://ask-doc-alma.blogspot.com. you may read the article there which i have written based on the information i gleaned after a month-long information rally on obesity & endocrinology.
so, this morning, cook up some bacon & fried eggs! you'll be full the entire day. :)
how about you, do you eat breakfast everyday?

I always thought that was weird, too, but I've read a lot about it over the years. I try to eat a big breakfast, but my appetite isn't big in the mornings. So, I eat a little when I first wake up and then I have a "brunch" type thing a couple of hours later.

that's actually alright. the study has shown that the first few hours after waking up are the critical hours, and it doesn't have to be your very first meal that should be heavy. just make sure you eat brunch just a couple of hours after waking up so that you don't end up craving the entire day. :)
yes, i know it sounds weird. but the brain is hard to fool; it is rather hard-wired, and it has its own control centers. we have a center for controlling respiration, heart rate, temperature, and even moods. it's a good thing the satiety center was found out eventually... the information researchers got from this valuable bit of information has helped people eat more without fearing weight gain.

Eating breakfast also boosts your metabolism according to the Biggest Loser game on Wii.

Yes. I quite agree to your finding. I am a medical student and I have heard about this. The satiety centre of the brain is located in the hypothalamus right? Some ventro medial nucleus, right?
I have learned that this centre controls the hunger. If there is any harm done to this, the brain sends hunger message to our body and we will have to eat. And this leads to obesity. Am I correct?
And for stimulating it, we need to have a good amount of breakfast. But I don't know how much...
Could you please tell me the amount?
