there have been published studies that artificial sweeteners, specifically aspartame, caused a significant increase in leukemia and lymphoma among mice. but when the national cancer institute conducted its own studies, they say there is no relationship between artificial sweeteners and cancer in humans. the studies are never perfect; they of course have flaws. but given that the relationship between artificial sweeteners and cancer has been proven in mice to be statistically significant, what do you think of the studies done by National Cancer Institute? (see this article: htto://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aspartame_controversy. ) do you think the studies done by the National Cancer Institute are not sufficient and need improvement? Do you believe there should be no official statement until better studies are conducted? Share your views.

You put a nice discussion here! I was alarmed with this aspartame thing! My mother has diabetes so she choose products with sugar free content or has artificial sweetener and therefore i am worried about her consumption of aspartame containing foods. I am studying a course in relate with food concern so right now this is a talk about issue for us. The first time i heard this issue is from my professor which is a nutrionist. Because of that, i immediately take what she said. And never get in touch of aspartame products. If what you are saying is that the effect of aspartame is not been proven, well then, those researchers should take care of what they are addressing to the public because this is a sensitive issue.
