| What OS do you guys use?? I use windows media center 2005 with dual boot with ubuntu 8.10. I recently installed ubuntu and I'm very impressed. It's quick, efficient, and stable. Haven't had a single crash. In fact, my computer has been on for a whole week and I still don't have to restart it. It's also very customizable. I have compiz fusion running on it and the user interface is just wonderful. I even can run all my windows apps and games at full speed on here with wine. I barely even boot into windows anymore :D | | | | | |

| | i use a modified version of Windows XP Home dualbooted with Linux Mint. Windows lets me play a crapload of games without using wine (i detest wine) and i use Linux Mint for my basic needs and for programming. | | | | | | |

| | I am currently test driving Ubuntu Jackalope, so far so good:) I have been using Linux for the past.. well.. ever since I got my first computer where the graphics card was so bad I couldn't play a single game. I just switched to Linux and have gone through a load of distros. I first fell in love with Slackware, it was fast - really stable - and very userfriendly. BSD type install and BSD style alot of things actually 8) Slowly migrated over to Redhat (yes, back when Fedora didnt exist:D) Didn't like it at all, dislike RPM and yum in general nowadays (I bear with openSUSE though) For a long time I was stuck with Gentoo (it wasn't my favourite, but I spent SO LONG installing it haha, so I just had to get my wasted times worth:)) And these are all distros I still recommend to people, although Sabayon is out now as an easier version of Gentoo. Anyway, back to the present. I've run Ubuntu since 4.10 and am as I said still running it. It's so easy to get into, so easy to fall in love with. The community is great and if you ever run into problem they're always there to help you:) As for WINE.. I'm not even going to comment:D I just run XP in VirtualBox for any windows needs. It's funny, Windows run faster in Linux than it does alone:) | | | | | | |

| | Im also using dual boot -> Win XP / Ubuntu 8.10. When I need to just browse the internet, write documents, work with php coding - I use Ubuntu. And when I need to use specific Windows software (for example audio editing software), I just reboot and choose Windows. About Wine - It's great, but it can`t run all Windows software, for example I spend whole day trying to get StarCraft running (an old and great game by Blizzard), but I failed, it didn`t work. And result from google also suggested that it's impossible to run it completely perfect. So yes, I need to use XP often. But I hope that game developers will try to be more friendly to Linux. | | | | | | |

| | ^_^ Howdy!.... techsnipes!.... Hey! I'm using Ubuntu from more than a year till now. And you are absolutely right fast, highly secured, a very stable and robust system. I have kubuntu, xubuntu, and soon enlightenment desktop managers. I just upgraded lately my Ubuntu to Intrepid and ordered lots of absolutely free CD Installers. My computer is only on Pentium 4 with upgraded 1gig of ram and a wireless connection. It is almost look like a Mac desktop.... lol.... and feels like Vista... lol..... And soon I'm have a brand new Apple iMac. And I'm very surely I will have Ubuntu on it also. And, hmmmm maybe a Windows also....lol mmmm maybe after an official Windows 7 released....lol I still love old classic Window games..... I know there's already games on Mac and that are popular on a Windows today. ^_^ Thanks!.... and Enjoy!.... myLot!.... | | | | | | |
