Star Wars Prequels |
| |
| As a big Star Wars fan, I was very dissapointed by the new Star Wars movies. They just seemed like sacrilege to the Holy Trinity that was the original trilogy. Out of the three prequels "Revenge of the Sith", was the best out of a bad lot. So did you want to choke Jar Jar Binks binks to death with your popcorn? Were the prequels just a jumped uo toy commercial ? | | | | | |

| | I wasn't a big fan of the prequels. I had some of the same issues that others did. Like, for instance the technology seemed more advance in the prequels. I don't know how this could have been remedied as it being a sci-fi movie, cool visuals are part of the fun. The original trilogy was very cutting edge when it came out. The thing that really got to me in the prequels, was the acting for Anakin, both young and old. I really didn't care about him. I didn't feel any emotion about his struggle. The acting just turned me off that I was sitting there thinking, so what, become Darth Vader already. I didn't really know the story in the prequels going in. All I knew is that Anakin becomes Darth Vader and Obi Wan was his teacher. So some of the back story was interesting. But the really wasn't much suspense, partially because you know how it's all gonna turn out. So, the original is still my favorite, hands down. | | | | | | |

| | Yes the original trilogy is still the Holy grail. For me the "Revenge of the Sith" was the best of the prequels, it was good, as you said, to have some back story of how Anakin turned to the dark side. Although the the turning of Anakin, seemed rushed a little bit. The worst part of "Revenge of the Sith" , was Darth Vader screaming "NOOOOOOOOOO!" like a litle girl. | | | |

| | Hey there. Yes I do like all the films as well. The prequels did have some very good points but I will always have a place in my heart for the fiest 3. | | | |

| | Thanks for for the different perspective on Jar Jar, I will think of him in a whole different light, when I watch the movies. You really know your stuff. "May the force be with you" | | | |

| | Good point on Jar Jar. I think that's what Lucas really wanted to achieve. However, Jar Jar DID annoy me a lot. I think it was because, in a shallow note, Jar Jar tried to serve as a comic relief but failed miserably. I think since Artoo and Threepio weren't together there yet Jar Jar kind of had to be a stand-in for that duo. But good point on Jar Jar nonetheless. | | | |

| | Zone- I just noticed this lol, I'm sorry it took me 3 months to respond. May the force be with you as well. Yes, I definately take my Star Wars life very seriously. Ok, so I'm bit more like Qui Gong (though according to a recent survey I took on what Jedi I'd be, I scored Obi Wan-heh, maybe I'm an old hermitess and don't know it yet lol). Thanks for the response though. Namaste-Anora | | | |

| | Rasta- I'm still not sure I buy into the idea that he was only "comic relief". There was bits of humor throughout the film by various people, but I know when we get to third film, there is very little humor to be found and one of the most dark of all of them. I'm not sure I'd even say that R2D2 and C3PO are even comic relief, though they do get into quite a bit of trouble together lol. I think in Lucas's films, everything, and I mean every little detail has deep meaning and purposeful placement. Of course, that's just my humble opinion. Namaste-Anora | | | |

| | @ Anora Of course you're right about the fact that every detail in the films has a holistic purpose. In fact Artoo and Threepio also served as a different point of view, a view of the story from minor characters in the film. I was just thinking that Artoo and Threepio were one of the funniest for me and I love them so much. However, I would really really love to like Jar Jar and I do acknowledge the explanation. It does make sense. He almost represents the galaxy before the empire. I just don't know what irks me about him. I'm sure it's really shallow. His voice? But I acknowledge your explanation nonetheless. It's actually relieving for me to know that Lucas didn't make a mistake on that one. Thanks! | | | |

| | I actually have a list of the 6 movies according to my favorite in descending order. Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, Revenge of the Sith, A New Hope, Attack of the Clones, Phantom Menace. Notice that the bottom two are from the new trilogy. Yes, they were a bit disappointing... for me they lacked the depth seen in the originals. I put Phantom Menace as my least favorite because even though it was the pivotal movie of my 9-year-old life, it didn't really look much like the originals. Too bright indeed. Hmm... And maybe because Jar Jar had a major part in that movie. Haha. But all in all, I like all of them. This list is like just the ranking of the best of the best. Revenge of the Sith was awesome because it looks like the originals and emotionally, it completed the circle. These are very good movies. | | | | | | |

| | I would agree with the order you have posted. The Empire Strikes back is one of the most darker films in the series and is a fan favorite. Out of all the films Empire is most memorable for the twist with Vader being Skywalker's Father. Sith was definitely my favorite of the newer films | | | |

| | Yes I still love all the films but my heart is still with the original trilogy. All the women love Hayden even if he can't really act but is good eye candy. Sith was my favorite too out of the new ones, it seemed just made for the fans and is almost perfect. I was a bit ticked off with Jar Jar but check Anoras' post and you will have a new found respect for him just as I do. Lucas said the technology was not there at the time to film the story the way he wanted, such as the use of CGI, but at least they did get made. | | | |

| | I actually loved all 6. Of course Episodes 4, 5, and 6 will always be a level above the prequels. However, my all time favorite out of the six is actually Revenge of the Sith. I don't know why. Maybe because I am female so it has a lot of things in the story that I like. It covers a lot of bases to cater to all audiences. It has the action, a love story, drama, etc. Not to mention Anakin is pretty freaking hot in this one haha. But aside from that, the story in this Episode just thrills me the most. I get chills when Anakin takes his first breath as Darth Vader. Return of the Jedi is right up there with this one though for me. I really love the ending and feel satisfied with it. I would love to see Episodes 7, 8, and 9 that Lucas wrote but it does not seem that will happen, so the ending to Episode 6 is as satisfying as possible. Star Wars is just all around awesome. What else needs to be said? haha | | | | | | |
