The San Francisco Bay Area rescue group I volunteer for helps to place between 10 and 20 dogs rescued from Taiwan every year. Those of us who really love these dogs sometimes get grief for putting our efforts towards rescuing these dogs because there are so many other dogs in the US who also need rescue (Our all-volunteer rescue group helps rescue - including fostering, temperament rehabilitating, providing medical help for, spay and neuter as needed, and rehoming to permanent adoptive placements - somewhere in the neighborhood of more than two hundred US dogs a year, also). I say, every rescued dog is a rescued dog, and all dogs deserve a chance at a beloved-pet life. Do you have feelings about rescuing dogs from around the world? Do you know why particularly the feral dogs known as Formosan Mt Dogs are so generally despised in Taiwan? Do you have a Formosan Mt Dog or other dog from Taiwan that you love? How old is your Formosan? Which rescue group did you adopt him or her from? What makes your Formosan special to you?
