What does Peanut Butter have to do with Mardi Gras?

I have seen this asked on Yahoo. Someone actually has to write a college paper on the subject. I googled it, but darned if I could find any answer. Does anyone on Mylot know what significance Peanut Butter has to Mardi Gras?
