Who else keeps canned goods and bottled water just in case of a severe storm or other emergency? I have a pantry of basic canned food, bottled water and lots of candles. I plan on building up my emergency supply over the year so we are prepared if and when a major storm occurs. What do you have in your emergency pantry?

i'm not very prepared. i did all that a long tiome ago & never used ot so i didn't buy anymore water etc. have you seen the battery operated lanterns. they are so much better than candles.they came in real handy last week when we had the bad ice storm,

They are alot safer then candles and you can leave them on all night while you sleep. I like them.

I do this myself. Have for a long time. At any one given time, there is enough food in my house to feed my family for a year, if a major disaster happens. I am not just concerned about weather, I worry about a bunch of different things that could happen. Job lost is one of the things I worry about. If something were to happen, I know that my family wouldn't starve for at least a year.

That's what I am aiming at. I prepare for all types of disasters including financial ones. I like to make sure there's enough food for my family to survive for extended periods of time in a disaster. 1 year worth is excellent!

We try, every year we start to stock up and then before we know it we use up what is there due to not wanting to run out and get something...LOL, but at least we try and we are always restocking!!
