I haven't been directly effected by the Bushfires, living an hour away from the closest one but the efforts of all Victorians involved have been mind blowingly awe inspiring. ON Saturday I could not remain outside - it was simply too hot and yet there were fireman and emergency workers in the heat which I imagine would have been well over 50% C putting their lives on the line for ordinary people. The death toll has been horrifying, but could have been much higher if it weren't for the efforts of these volunteers. Saturday was the hottest day on record in this state and combined with the fact that we have been living in a nine year drought, the State was a tinderbox waiting to explode. It would seem that we will face this sort of weather every year now, and it seems only a matter of time before my own town is faced with similar circumstances
