Update on my discussion about running water on my road |
|
This sucks! They never did finish the water lines on this road yet. They keep telling us they will get it done in a couple of days. A couple of days comes and goes and no water department outside finishing the job. My husband keeps calling and they keep telling him it will get done but when? This week would have been perfect for it because it has been like Spring here in Ohio. Ugh!!
So I am still heating water for baths and dishes and other cleaning. We have waited long enough! I don't know what they are waiting for. Maybe next Christmas? I knew I shouldn't have gotten my hopes up and posted a discussion about it so soon. It seems like every time I get my hopes up and tell someone that something good is going to happen it doesn't happen. It is like I jinx myself every time.
Does this happen to you? Do you get your hopes up and get all happy about something and tell a bunch of people only for it to not happen for some reason?

cwilson26 (1613) | 11 months ago | No they are putting it off and we don't understand it. Their equipment is still in our driveway. They came back a couple of weeks ago and said they weren't going to finish ours because they said my husband didn't tell them he was on SSI and since he didn't tell them then we weren't on the list to have them finish it all the way for us. People who aren't receiving benefits from the Government are supposed to come up with their own money to rent the equipment to finish digging the hole and connecting the lines to the meter then to the house. My husband seen they were taking their equipment away and went outside and asked why and they told him what I just said. He explained to them that he signed the paper stating he was on SSI and that they are supposed to finish it for us since there is no way we can afford to pay for the equipment needed. So they left their equipment here, told my husband to get a hold of the guy who runs the whole thing and then they would be back. That was over two weeks ago and they haven't been back since. Like I said, the weather has been great this week and they had the perfect opportunity to finish it up but they aren't even trying. Now it's going to get cold again and they will probably make us wait until Spring! Ugh! This sucks!
Yeah, see it seems like we get our hopes up, tell everyone the great news and then something happens to stop it from happening and it is like we jinx ourselves! Sorry about your big tax return. That really sucks when you need the money now! I hope you get it soon.
I hope things start looking up for both us of really soon. For now on when I am expecting something I am not announcing it or getting my hopes up until it happens!:)

Katlady2 (4467) | 11 months ago | Good grief!!! They need to get on the ball. I think you or hubby should be on the phone to that guy every single day until things get done like they're supposed to. If I were closer to you, I'd go and kick some butts for you, that's for sure. LOL

cwilson26 (1613) | 11 months ago | We live out in the country where we have been running off of a cistern for our water. The rest of the people on our road have been running off of a well. We have never had any running water from the city on this road until some of the people on this road made up a petition for everyone to sign to force our township to run city water lines on our road. The reason they did this is because there was sulfur found in the wells on this road.
Without re-explaining everything here, check out my profile and you will see the discussion about running water on our road. This discussion here is just an update on how they have not finished like they were supposed to and we still have to carry water and heat it up for baths and cleaning.
We have been complaining and so far it is not doing any good. My husband calls the water department once a week asking what is going on and they just say they are doing everything they can. Our neighbor up the road told me that there are only three houses left to run the water to and hook it up, theirs, ours and another house. So I don't know what is keeping them but they need to get their butts in gear already.

They will all tell you what you want to hear and then go about working at their own sweet pace. Best thing to do is forget about it and relax and one day you will wake up and have water. No amount of threats or intimidation does any good with these people. They only have one pace "Backward". I know you are extremely frustrated but just relax and let it go. Since they have started the job they will not leave it uncomplete. They will eventually finish it. But like I have said at their own sweet pace. Good Luck

cwilson26 (1613) | 11 months ago | yeah that would be best but not the easiest thing to do when we have been waiting for so long. If they wouldn't keep telling us it will get done on a certain day then we wouldn't get our hopes up and then get let down. My husband doesn't threaten them when he calls he just calls and asks them when will it be done and why is it taking so long. So far we get the same answer that it will be done soon. What is soon? A year from now? I am frustrated because when we first moved here we had running water but the pressure wasn't that good since we run off of a cistern and it dries up a lot. Then we got this trailer moved in here and the pipes froze and busted while my husband was gone last year. After that we decided to wait until they run city water down here before we run new lines. We had to quit running off of the cistern anyway because even though we have a lid over it animals still end up getting in and my husband finds them in their dead. That was too gross to keep using the cistern. So we have been carrying water from off of the hill and the spring pipe up the road and heating it up for over two years now. It sucks! I had to live like this when I was little but I don't want to now.
Every time I go to my moms, which has been two or three times a week lately, I have been showering at her house since it is such a hassle to heat water and take a sponge bath. We only heat water for baths if we can't get to moms so we still have to do it two or three times a week.
Yeah, I know they will eventually finish it at their own pace but it is ridiculous that they haven't finished yet. Like I said, this week was perfect for it because the weather here was great. Now it is going to get cold again so we will probably have to wait longer. Of course, maybe they like working in the cold since that is when they are usually out there working. Strange! lol.:)

5. Thoroughrob (7924) | 10 months ago | Hopefully they will get it done soon. I can't believe you still don't have it. I guess since I am catching up, you may by now. There was no sense in making you wait that long.

cwilson26 (1613) | 10 months ago | Nope we still don't have it and we won't until we finish it ourselves. They are saying that we were supposed to fill out a low income form to have them finish the whole thing for us. We didn't get a form or we would have filled it out. My husband told them that but they said it is too late now. So he has to dig the whole and hook the line from the meter to the house. He started on it the other day and said it doesn't look too hard. It is just the fact that they did every one else's but not ours and it is not fair.
I should have started an update discussion but I have been busy writing for AC and Demand Studios.

Thoroughrob (7924) | 10 months ago | That is really sad. I wish you luck trying to do it yourselves. I would sure call raising cane. I would not be nice about it either.

cwilson26 (1613) | 10 months ago | Oh my husband did call and raised some cane because it is not fair that they are doing this to us. Nothing we can really do about it now though except do it ourselves. It will not be easy but we will get it done. Hopefully soon because I am tired of carrying water and heating it up to do everything that needs done around here. Because of that, I don't get as much writing done as I would like.:)
