Where Do You Find New Music?  | |  I was in Target the other day browsing the music section when a couple kids no older than 14 came by and started to check out some CD's. I overheard one of them say, "Wow! I've never bought a CD before in my life. I get everything off the internet."
This made me feel tremendously old (just turned 26). When I was growing up, it was tapes, then CD's and now digital downloads.
My question to everyone is, where do you find new music? It seems no one really listens to the radio anymore. And with places like iTunes, Rhapsody, eMusic etc, the radio has become obsolete. I ask because I am in the process of making my music available through iTunes. Let me know if anyone is interested. But either way, where do you guys go to find new music?

Ravenladyj (18001) | 11 months ago |  I dont listen to music on the computer or the radio....The reason I dont listne to the radio though is because there are just far too many commercials and its the same songs over and over on the main stations so I just dont bother...What I DO do however is make tons of CDs...I have 1000s of songs on my computer and am forever making mixed CDs for myself....
where do I find new music though...through certain friends, my kids, tv shows and movies and music magazines like AP etc....

Spoon feeding the public with what some hot head executive thinks the public needs doesn't really work anymore. Also, the notion of hearing music from tv shows, movies and magazines is a very interesting one. Music licensing has become a huge stream of income for musicians and is not a very sought after gig. It's no longer about the big record deal but more about how you can use the ever growing media outlets to showcase your music. More tv channels means more commercials and programming. That means more opportunities for musicians to showcase their stuff. Unfortunately, I have not gotten any songs on tv shows or movies, but I am working on it. Thanks so much for the reply. | |
