I did it today. I was really worked up. I can stand people making mistakes, I can handle people who are lazy and casual, but when it comes to honesty, I can not stand cheats. i am looking after a Departmental Store. There have been cases of shop lifting and pilferage in the store which could not be pin pointed and I kept writing them off as shelf losses. Today I found some things missing from the store room. Access to the store room is restricted only to the staff who lay out the goods everyday. If things go missing from there, it shows that there is a thief amongst the staff. I asked them to own up or face the consequences. No one owned up. I gave them adequate time to come clean, but to no avail. I took the hard decision to sack all of them today. I am conducting emergency interviews to get a entirely new staff. I can't work with a thief amongst us. What do you people say?

hi mercuryman3a...i can understand how you feel because i've been stolen from at work. but when you fire everyone innocent people lose their job. it is an aggravating problem. one job i had just kept making more security measures that made it harder for everyone but i could understand they wanted to prevent the thousands of dollars that they were losing from employee theft. it hurts everyone when a few people steal.
