| |  It has become some sort of tradition and include misunderstanding of what Febraury 14 really is. Febraury 14 is the feast of St. Valentine which is the patron saint of lovers, not just a special day of love.
There is a lot of misconception about Valentine's Day and love, just like Christmas Day and giving/sharing. Many people express their love during Valentines Day and get back to their ways after Febraury 14, same as Christmas. many people give gifts during the Christmas eve and no longer share after December 25. Everyday is supposed to be Valentines Day, a day of love, just like Christmas, everyday must be a day of giving and sharing.
People are more concerned and cling more to tradition rather than know the deeper meaning and message of such celebrations.
