How long do you expect a multi-function printer to last? email this discussion to a friend?

I only had my last one for a few years and it went wrong. My husband dismantled it and checked it out, unclogging the outlet tube, but it still didn't work. I decided it would cost as much to call in a professional as it would to get another one on ebay. I was lucky enough to win an auction for an ex-display one and it arrived this morning. It only cost a quarter the price of the last one and I think I will get better photo printing from it. I just don't know how the ink costs will compare. Do you have a multi-function printer? How long do you expect it to last before it gives up the ghost?

I don't have a multiprinter, only an HP 900, but it's okay with me as I don't really print many. My printer is more than a year and I hope it will last for another 5 years,,lol,,,and another 5 still..he he he...it helps a lot in printing notes for handouts and short quizzes. Cheers and happy mylotting.

Right. I hope it does last for you, Jena. I understand that many people don't feel they need printers at all these days, at least not for documents. I still use mine quite a lot and was lost when I didn't have one for a few days.

I have a photo printer that I use for everything and buy cheap ink off E Bay. I also have an old HP Laser printer but unfortunately my Apple computer doesn't want to recognise it so I really ought to see if E Bay could find me a buyer. It's so old though that they only people really likely to be interested would be the British Museum! I hope that my printer will last at least five years. I bought it from Tesco in their sale eighteen months ago and so far it has behaved itself.

You're the second person I know who bought a printer in the Tesco sale. Do hope it lasts well for you. I guess it's the luck of the draw. Mostly, of course, if they're going to go wrong, they'll wait till one days after the warranty runs out.

That's a definite law. One second out of warranty and all hell lets loose. Of course the dealer/manufacturer won't help either! A couple of years ago I went with my father to buy him a digital camera. The same as mine. I got £80 off as part of a special promotion. We went to the same company but different store. The promotion was still on according to the signs. The deal was a cashback offer. We were in the process of looking over the camera when I said "this ones on offer isn't it?" They salesman said yes and on we went. As we were purchasing the manager came over and said that the offer had closed the previous day and he couldn't offer us the cashback. My Dad said not to worry. I was a little blunter! We wrote to the company who declined to give us the money back. I know it's a silly thing, but it has quite changed my view of that shop!
