If you take a sleeping pill on the first night thru the third night you will sleep like a baby. Gradually it will take longer to fall alseep and you will be asleep for less hours. I do have a friend that had this problem so now she takes the sleep medicine dealing with not sleeping long or well. Then she takes the sleep medicine three days again. It is frustrating when your are so tired you can not do any activity but the mind will niot shut off for sleep. Before OTC meds or perscriptions try the herb Valerian Root. BUT if you are on ANY medications DO ask your doctor first.
