Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the wind, English Patient, Dangerous Liaisons, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon etc all end tragically, the romantic pair that fight to be together are never truly united. If they had lived happily ever after the story would not be so bitter sweet. I think what makes this story so good is the sad ending and right at the very end they meet again on the Titanic.
