Hi Agrant, in my country, almost every home will take off their shoes before they go into the house, so when there are guest coming to visit, they will automatically take off the shoes, and we usually don't ask they don't do to it, it is very normal to us.

Hello agrant10! I would never ask my visitors to take their shoes off. They are my visitors and I don't want to offend or insult them by letting them put off their shoes before they can get it. I have some visitors who tried to take her shoes off but I told her not to do it. But if it's my siblings, I would probably without a doubt tell them to take their shoes..hahhaah..

No I would never ask them to take off their shoes and if they are attempting to do so I would probably object since they are a gues there .If however they had mud or dirt or anything like that I would expect them to know that they should take off their shoes. If I went to someones house though I may take off my shoes though out of consideration for them bUt I would probably be slightly offended if they asked me to do that .Good discussion

Shoes are allowed at my house.
I have been to alot of houses were shoes are not allowed. I actually hate that its like then why have people over. I understand that if you have carpet you want it to look nice but with wood or tile fllors i dont think you should take your shoes off. I feel as if they dont want to clean there floors and there lazy and i think its rude and they should allow there guests to do what they want to make them comfortable.
In my house we have tile and wood floors only and we allow everyone to wear shoes as we dont really care because we seem to always be cleaning anyways. Shoes in a house should be optional to the guests and not the homeowner.

Hi agrant, here in my place, there is already a common habit for every guest to take off the shoes before stepping in the house. In certain houses there are indoor slippers provided for guests depending on his liking. Usually there are a couple pairs of slippers beside the bathroom or toilet for guests to put on before going in either of these rooms.
In case we have entered a house where we can go in with shoes on, we still automatically would take off our shoes before entering the house, we would feel embarrassed when we are asked to put back the shoes again
Of course I will ask people who enter my house with shoes on to leave them at the doorway, but this mostly would happen to toddlers only, for we, people here fell into the habit of leaving our shoes before stepping in a house since childhood.
Happy posting
and take care.

No we don't, but if they are comfortable here they usually do anyway. My fiance and I have a friend that comes over quite often and that is almost the first thing he does when he arrives most of the time. I can understand why people ask for their guests to take off their shoes though, as to not track dirt inside the house. We allow people to come in through our back door though so they trek through the kitchen before going through the dining room, den, and either the room where our computer is or our room depending on the person!

For me, it's a bit of a habit to come in and take of my shoes. So, whenever I have people over, I will ask them to take off their shoes. Otherwise it might make a bit of a mess around my apartment, it will bring in dirt, and such. And I personally like to keep my place as clean as possible.

It' actually the reverse here. Visitors often remove their shoes without being asked to, before stepping into the house. Most of us do not wear shoes inside our homes - the floors are usually ceramic tiles or marble.

No, I don't ask them to. If they want to that's fine, but I wouldn't make anybody take their shoes off. Well, unless they had really muddy or dirty shoes, that's a different story, lol.
