Sheet Music Song Books with our without Cds  email this discussion to a friend?

I have a few sheet musics and a few Song books, most of the latter with Cds, except for one that I do not have a Cd with. I find the Cds good because then I can see what the accompaniment is since I can only get to practice a couple of weeks before the concert with the pianist. I do have a spinet organ but I know that most singers usually have a piano in their house except my husband does not want one. So I plan to buy a piano keyboard that is not the full 88 keys.
So I was wondering whether you prefer to just get the song books and sheets without the Cds or whether you want to go all wild and buy the song books with the Cds included even though you are on a budget.
I mean in this economy, is it worth it or not buying the song books with the Cds. Oh and you all who are not singers can answer if they would or not had you had the talent.

That is one thing i would have loved to do play music,I used to bell ring in our local church,my daughter had lessons on the tenner horn but gave it up.I think you are so clever making music and singing.Music lifts the soul and crosses barriers of race and creed a good tune is a good tune and it unites people, makes them forget their worries keep on playing.xxx

I love music, especially classical, opera, and sacred music. I would rather sing solos then do choral. I get confused as to when to come in. But with the single sheet music, they fall apart and with the books, someone has to hold them.

What about laminating them, just an idea,xx

You have to get a big enough machine. Most laminating machines are just for small sizes. And the sheet music, the kind you buy in the stores are a special size so you have to get a special binder to put them in. Besides we are supposed to now the song by heart. My accompanist copies them on the school copying machine and makes her copy 8 x 12 but she is near sighted so she can see smaller print without glasses.
I suppose if there were a music store near here, I could get a big enough binder to put it in, but now I have bought some song books and that works better.

Thanks for response and I suppose it would make the music sheet very slippery.xx

I was watching Rachel Ray, and one of her advice was to hold the book open with one of those skirt hangers you get from the store. Now she was talking about cookbooks, but it could work just as well on song books. NOw I have to get a large long stapler because the inside sheet has come loose in one of my books.
