Tamil is one of the classical languages and has many significance. Tamil songs can be differential into classical , melody , folk songs, rural songs,and now the mixed songs that is the old songs are converted into new one with the latest music.Tamil Music directors play a major role in this section. Maestro Illayaraja, Deva , M.s.Viswanathan and many others follow the path of them.

This ie very good infromation. In my ignorance-I had always associated the Tamils to the many years of war in SriLanka not Music! I am glad to learn about their rich array of music!
