What Was That?!?! |
|
Let me tell you this first, Lady is the tan one and is very shy and timid. Missy is the black, tan and white one. She is the runt of the litter however, very outgoing and is the boss of the two. We call her the "little sh!t"! because she's really something else! Well, when we get up in the morning, Lady is the one who eagerly gets up with us however, Missy doesn't because she's the lazy one in the mornings. She's just not a morning gal. Anyway, the company that helped me get my hearing aids also sent for a number of things that I needed. I got a package in the mail which is a vibrating alarm clock, smoke alarm, door bell, and a sensor. Hubby decided to hook up the alarm clock forgetting about Missy being under the covers.... You know where I'm going now, don't you?! I didn't see it myself but just the mere thought of it made me laugh! Hubby sets the alarm and throws the round vibrating thingy under the top mattress, where it's suppose to go and then it went off blaring loud and the bed was vibrating so hard that Missy instantl woke up and on her wobbly little legs tried their best to support her as she tried to get off the bed as fast as she could!! I'm just laughing as I'm telling you this.... I wish I was there to have seen it myself but that's ok, the mere idea just gives me the giggles.
Have you ever played a 'nice' trick on your pets? What happened? What did you do? Come on, do tell!! But let it be a nice trick not something mean or harmful because I am an animal lover and don't want to hear about the bad stuff!! So BE NICE!!

1. Katlady2 (4460) | 10 months ago | Awwwww.....poor Missy! I bet she hasn't forgiven hubby yet either has she? I don't blame her. I'm not a morning person either and I would definitely have the grumpies for a long time if that happened to me. LOL! But yes, I DID get several snickers out of reading this. I did the same thing to my beloved Meg several years ago. I had gotten one of those big motorized mice for the cats...you know the kind that you turn the switch on and it goes all over the place by itself. Anyway, I did sort of the same thing your hubby did...only on purpose. Meg was snoring away and I stuck the mouse under her comforter (formerly MY comforter LOL) and turned it on and then moved back. I'm glad I did because Meg jumped about a mile and then proceeded to bite the living daylights out of that mouse while it was still under the blanket. I've never laughed so hard in my life! Needless to say, Meg sulked and ignored me for several hours. But when dinner time came I guess she decided she better be nice to me so she would get fed (like I'd let her starve....YEAH RIGHT! LOL)

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | OMG Kat!! LMBO!! That's so funny!! I laughed and laughed after reading what you did to poor ole Meg.... You're awful!! But so funny!! I tied a string to my cats tail one time but with tape so it wouldn't be tight and cut off circulation to her tail and my cat went balistic!! She went around and around in circles then she took off like a jet from one side of the room to the next trying to get away and the next thing we knew, she flew up the stairs out of sight!! We were laughing so hard till she started around the room but we couldn't catch her to get it off.... we were afraid she's have a heart attack! Finally we caught her upstairs and took the string off. I petted her and loved her all the while laughing so hard but I felt so bad but it was sooo funny!! Needless to say, I've never done it again nor do I intend to. I'm not into killing my furry friends by causing them to have a heart attack. Whew!! Lesson learned!!

2. Polly1 (8463) | 10 months ago | Thats funny, I was laughing while I was reading it. I played a good trick on a dog that I had. She was a 100lb. dobermen. She was a nice dog. We had a stray cat that would come and get in our trash, I started feeding the cat, of course the dog knew the cat was out there, she wanted to get that cat. once it started getting cold out, I started to let the cat come in the house, I just kept the kitchen door closed. I didn't know how the dog and cat would get along. When I would let the cat out the dog would come into the kitchen looking for that cat. One day I decided to play a trick on the dog. I put a sauce pan on the floor, the handle was the same color as the cat. I took a dark towel and covered up the pan. Then I let the dog in the kitchen, she just knew that dark thing with the tail was the kitty, she went sliding across the floor, by this time we were cracking up it was so funny. She was so embarrassed and got a big attitude because we laughed at her. Eventually the dog and cat became best of friends. Sadly they are both gone now. Thanks for the memories.

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | OMG Polly!! LMBO!! That is sooooo funny!! I can see your dog now sliding across the floor!! Poor thing!! LOL oh my gosh!! We had a couple of cocker spaniels and we had a couple of figurines of cockers in front of the TV stand and the female who's name was Rainbow, she'd go balistic if I touched the black figurine! lol She'd bark and bark and if I dragged it closer to her, she'd bit the muzzle of the figurine!! She was hilarious!! Now the male, Bubbles, he walked lopsided from the time he was born til he died. He didn't care about anything, life was just one big play ground. We'd call him dufuss because he was such a happy go lucky type of dog. Both of them are gone now and we really miss them too.....

Polly1 (8463) | 10 months ago | Your story about Rainbow reminds me of a story about Hobo, he was just a little dog. One day we set down a big mirror and leaned it against the wall. Hobo walked passed it and discovered another dog. He went to barking and carrying on, that other dog did the same thing. It was so funny watching Hobo getting tough with that other dog in his house. This is such a fun discussion, remembering some of the funny stories about our critters. I know we all have lots more of them. My Hobo is gone too.

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | LOL Poor Hobo.... lol He just couldn't believe that that was HIM!! LOL No! I'm human! Not a dog! lol And people wonder why we love them so!

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | She was at first but she isn't now. Once we get into bed, she's finding an opening for her to get under and then licks my legs till she's had enough. That's when I can go to sleep is when she's done. lol She's a pistol and gotta love her!! lol

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | Oh yeah!! I've done that before and it is soooo funny watching them try their best to get it off the roof of their mouths!! lol My cocker spaniel Rainbow had no cooridination when it came to panting or the use of her tongue and she'd stick it waaaay out there trying to get the peanut butter off the roof of her mouth and it was sooo funny to watch!! But you know, she was smart little gal too because a lot of times she'd get something stuck in the side of her mouth and she'd try her best to get it out but if she couldn't, she'd come to me with her tongue working at the problem and she had this look on her face as if to say "Help me mommy please!" I knew then what it was and I'd stick my finger inside and get what ever it was out and she'd chomp it right up. She was something and I'll never forget her. Bubbles, our other cocker was very bright too and much more outgoing. Both have crossed over the Rainbow Bridge but I miss them something awful.

5. AnnieOakley1 (1641) | 10 months ago | TOO FUNNY!
My black cat, "Bear", has a fear of plastic bags, so whenever we are taking the groceries out of them, if he happens to be eating at his dish in the kitchen (his favourite pastime), he scrambles like a monster is after him. Often spilling the cat food all over.
Anyway, picture the cat running as fast as he can, but not actually going anywhere, and the fear in his eyes is just TOO FUNNY, because he KNOWS he's not getting anywhere, so he tries to run even faster. It is just hilarious! Then, finally, he will catch a claw on the carpet in the foyer and he's gone off to recuperate upstairs, from the fright.

AnnieOakley1 (1641) | 10 months ago | That same black cat, Bear, molests every visitor that comes here. He launches himself onto their laps and often wraps both arms around their neck and gives them a hug. While he is licking their hair, and drooling.
| |
|
|
CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | LOL molests? lol Oh the sweet thing can "molest" me any day!! He sounds like a real teddy BEAR!! Give that sweet thing a big ole hug for me!! lol I'm a sucker for cats and dogs but especially cats.... Did you know that most blue eyed white cats are deaf? Not all of them but most of them are. Makes me wonder what's in the white fur and blue eyes....?

AnnieOakley1 (1641) | 10 months ago | The same DNA strand that has a 'lack of pigment' (read: white) also carries the deafness.

6. Opal26 (9709) | 10 months ago | Hey cats! That is so funny! That poor dog got the surprise of her life! I bet she was awake real fast! That should teach her! I wonder if she will hesitate to get back into the bed? No, I never tricked my kittys. Well, not really! I have forgotten that one of them was still under the covers and ran the vacuum! Boy did that cat jump up and run out of the room! He hates that vacuum!
| |
| |
|
|
CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | LOL There aren't many cats that like a vacuum cleaner but look above at my response and you'll see one cat that didn't mind it at all. Some are so oblivious to the dangers and some are afraid of their own shadows and "poof!" they're gone!! lol I have a picture somewhere of one of my silly cats that I've nicknamed "Bad Boy" lol Because he is so bad but in an innocent way. His name is Rascal and it fits him perfectly!! lol One day I found Rascal on his window seat and I had the blinds down but he wanted to see out the window so he somehow separated the blades and went half way through it!! LOL I got a picture of his butt hanging out this side of the blinds! It was hilarious!! I found the picture but I have to scan it when hubby figures out what he did wrong when he uploaded the scanning program but once it's done, I'll show it to you, you'll get a real kick out of this nut of a cat!! LOL

Opal26 (9709) | 10 months ago | OMG! My cats Cougar & Jaguar used to do the same thing! They broke every blind in my apartment! I bet their all playing together on "Rainbow Bridge"! May they all RIP although I'm sure none of them are "resting"!
| |
|
|
CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | Oh gosh! So far Rascal hasn't torn any blinds yet but he makes them bend to his will though! lol He's still alive.... so far..... lol He'll be 5 this year so God willing, I'll have him around a little while longer. When he does go, I wonder if God will take him home because he might take Heaven apart too!! lol That is, if your two hasn't done so already!! LOL

7. muscles4me (8530) | 10 months ago | Can not recall any tricks. I was trying to wake up my pal (dog) Buddy once when we were at my parents. She was tired because we had played and ran around the yard alot. All of a sudden someone rang a door bell on the TV and Buddy jumped straight up in the air, then ran for the door barking. Now i don't have a door bell so i do not know how she knew what it was.
| |
| |
|
|
CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | That is strange!! Maybe it's instinct? I don't know but very interesting! I had to teach my dogs to bark when the door bell rang or someone knocked so they'd let me know. I'm legally deaf so my dogs are a BIG help in letting me know if something was going on that I didn't know about.

8. mummymo (11642) | 10 months ago | lol poor missy - I can just see the confusion and irritation on her face right now! LOL We don't tend to play tricks on our cat Tia as she doesn't give us the chance but she likes to play tricks on people! Her favourite is in summer when the top windows are open - she sits at the front door and looks at whoever happens to be visiting with her gorgeous pleading wyes til they get up and let her out...2 minutes later Tia is sitting on their knee purring, they don't know that she can jump the 10 ft to come back in through the window in the kitchen and end up very confused......
| |
| |
|
|
CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | Hi mummymo! She had a combination of confusion and "I'm so tired" look on her face! She tried her best to get off the bed but her wobbly legs wouldn't cooperate. lol Your cat reminded me of my cat Music.... he likes to get up on top of my cabinets either in the kitchen or in the mud room. In both areas we actually caught him in the act. In the kitchen, he'd jump on the counter, which is a no no and he knows it but he must've felt brave that day or a lapse in judgement, then jumped up to the edge and pulled himself up to the top. Our cabinets are huge and very tall so we found it amazing how he did it. Now in the mud room, he's a bit crafty.... he'll get on the feeding stand which is actually where to put clothes that have been folded but we use it to feed our cats so the dogs can't get to it. Then he'll make a leaping jump onto the door and gets a hold of the top and pulls himself up and jumps over onto the cabinet. We watched in complete amazement! Now if you'll look above in my earlier response, you'll see him as a kitten on top of my curtains when we lived in Arkansas. He's my little climber too....

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | Yes he is and he knows it! lol Now I have another one under response #6. This one is Rascal. He wanted to see out the window but I had the blinds pulled but he had other ideas.... lol Check him out....

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | You should've seen him when I first got him! He was in a carrier in a van and the lady brought him out and he was just screaming "meow meow meow meow" lol Then she took him out and he was this itty bitty little ball of fur!! He was adorable!! I loved and wanted him right then and there so we got him and took him home. The whole way home which was about 2 hours or more, he didn't say a word, just sat in my lap and purred his heart out. He's still that way. Just talk to him and he starts purring, can you imagine what he's like when I pet him? He's like a locomotive!! lol But he's always in trouble!! lol Always into something but he's so innocent though. It's like, can I have this? or what's that? or how does this work? lmbo! He's so bad!! but in a loving and innocent kind of way.

9. jazzsue58 (999) | 10 months ago | Before he was neuteured, Billy (my pet rabbit) had a 'thing' about balloons. Heaven knows why he thought a blown up bit of rubber should feel like a lady rabbit, but still ... anyway, one day I blew up a balloon and held the end, then just as he started taking an interest I let it go. It was one of those long wiggly ones that make a noise. It took off round the room - and Billy took off in the opposite direction! Once he'd got over the shock, of course, he wanted us to do it again, and this time he chased it. Once he got it he wouldn't let go and it turned into a wrestling match - with me losing when he let go and it pinged against my wrist. All afternoon we were blowing balloons up and watching this mad rabbit chase them round the room, before molesting them to death!

CatsandDogs (5122) | 10 months ago | A rabbit? Wow! That is incredible!! I didn't know rabbits could be so attached to humans!?! I had one as a child and believe it or not, it died on Easter of all days. She never showed anything like wanting human contact so it was rare that I'd let her out. Thanks for sharing your story!! I really enjoyed it!!
| |
|
|
jazzsue58 (999) | 10 months ago | I know - it amazed me too, as I thought they were pretty boring. My experience has been, by far the most entertaining are males that have been neuteured (before neutering they act like the man-eating 'dragon' rabbit from Monty Python's holy Grail movie!) The females are much less aggressive, but seem a bit less bright. The thing is, I'd never have got Billy at all if it hadn't been for some brake parts I was buying. I packed the kids off to the pet superstore next door; when I went to collect them, this little bundle of fluff was racing round the indoor pen, jumping over all the other rabbits to get my attention and then jumping up. I ignored him the first time, but when he did it again - and then jumped into my arms when I asked to take a look, I was smitten. It was a case of, "Now how can I justify the cost of buying a pet rabbit plus all the paraphernalia that goes with it? Ah, yes, I know - my brake pads weren't in stock ..." It helped that it was my daughter's birthday a week later - naturally, he is her rabbit. Er, not.
This is gonna sound cruel after all my gushing, but ... If you want to see something funny, try giving a rabbit a cherry tomato to eat. Or a grape. Anything tasty that's small, round and firm really. Satin (our female) is smart enough to roll it under her chin to trap it, but Billy chases it round the room, trying to get an anchor on it. It's just the right size that he can't get his teeth round it, so every time he tries it 'pings' away from him! Keeps him busy for hours. I always make sure he gets his treat in the end, though. I see it as my revenge for him taking a bite out of EVERY ONE of my prize tomatoes I had growing in the back garden last year.
But no, rabbits really are like little dogs - and the Dutch breed (like Billy) seem better than most. He comes running up when I call him, uses a litter tray (only for wees, but bunny poos aren't nasty and they're good for the garden) and loves a wrestle with a Marigold glove. How anyone can stick needles in them in a research lab is beyond me.

10. pyewacket (11579) | 10 months ago | Aww--Missy is so cute and hard to believe she's the sister of Lady and the same age, but as you said she was the runt. Mmmm...nope I can't say I've done any tricks on my two kitties...think if I did, I would get nasty looks, especially from Pyewacket...LOL--Oh but the closest I can think of is when I buy groceries and I buy both hamburger meat and chicken...well of COURSE, Pyewacket recognizes the sound of the packaging being undone and the sound of the foil when I'm ready to wrap the meats up. I often do give Pyewacket some of the raw hamburger meat. If it's on a day when I just get chicken I tear off the foil to wrap it up and out charging comes Pyewacket into the kitchen expecting what he thinks will be the hamburger meat. He sees me wrapping it up and then looks at me...like "Hey mom, don't I get any?" And I tell him, "Nope you can't have raw chicken, it's not good for you." Yikes what an insulted look I get from him, I swear.
