HELP! Our lab has smelly, wet ears! :(  

We have 2 beagles and one has that problem every now and then, the vet said it is because he gets water in his ear when i give him a bath. He gave me some stuff called C1/O it is a medically formulated ear cleanser. I use it now after every bath, but when he had a lot of wax in his ears, the vet told me to use it 3 or 4 times a day until it was cleaned up. all you do is squirt it in and use a cotton ball to get the wax out. Also your lab might have a ear infection that is causing it. If you have a vet at pet smart you can get it their, that is where i purchase it.

Hi ddenz, If cleaning them isn't helping , your dog may have a yeast infection in his ears. It happens alot with dogs. Our female German Shepherd gets them often.
I would take him to the vet. The vet can clean them and give you drops to put in his ears. If they constantly get ear infections and you are not taking care of it I would worry he might end up with hearing loss .

your lab may have a yeast infection like that previous post stated. or it could be water in your dogs ears But also check to see the color of the wax comming out of the ears... if it is very dark and smelly it may be mites. I know this as I work daily with dogs.
You have to look very close and be very still and you can see white flecks and they will move. The vet can provide drops but we just use a small amount of frontline ... and i works great also for east infections we use the masingil wipes.weird i know

Do you dry it after you clean it out? My lab has ear wax sometimes too, I use damn paper towel tp clean it and dry it out back.

Well,as a pet groomer of 10 years I'll tell you this: If your lab is a little older, it's probably just age.Have u taken it to the vet?Maybe it's an infection. But I'll give u some quick fixes:#1 Clean them out with diswashing liquid.For greasy ears, there's nothing better than a de-greaser,and no-it will not hurt them. Just buy one that has some kind of moisturizing lotion in it. #2 Sprinkle with baby powder.To dry off greasy ears, baby powder is a good absorbant. Then all u have 2 do is clean them out with cotton balls full of hydrogen peroxide.Immediately you'll see the foam come out of the ears, that might also indicate a sign of an infection. If any of this makes your dog whine, it's better to buy an "ear flush" at your local "wal-mart" or pet store. Let me know if any of this helps. Good luck! Gigi.

better go to a vet and have his ears checked. he might have ear infection and needs otic drops asap.
