Have you asked yourself what should one do If he want have the eternal life ?
The Question is indeed very Important for everyone who believe in God,
and The Good News is that This Question Was answered by Jesus Himself,
Of Course One Must be careful If there is another answer that contradict the answer By Jesus Christ PBUH.
Such another answer specially when it contradict the answer By Jesus Christ must be considered as nothing but an attempt to deceive you and to Lead you away from the teachings of The Christ Jesus PBUH and all earlier Prophets PBUT.
The story of the Man who asked Jesus Christ PBUH: "what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life" was Mentioned in 3 Gospels, Matthew, Mark, and Luke, It Contains The Question and The Answer.
[Matthew 19:16-20 KJV]
[16]And, behold, one came and said unto him, Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?
[17] And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
[18] He saith unto him, Which? Jesus said, Thou shalt do no murder, Thou shalt not commit adultery, Thou shalt not steal, Thou shalt not bear false witness,
[19] Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
[20] The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?
The Same Story was Mentioned also in [Mark 10:17-20 KJV] and [Luke 18:18-21 KJV].
a Quick Look at The Story will reveal some Points Without the need of a Bible scholar Or a philosopher.
** The Christ Jesus Refused Calling Him Good, and Told Us That There No Good but ONE that is GOD, This is a Good Remark That Jesus Christ Who Refused Calling Him Good will Never accept Calling Him God.
** If you want to Have The Eternal Life You Need to keep the commandments, These commandments Existed Before The Time Of Jesus Because The man Said:
"All these things have I kept from my youth up"
That Clearly indicate That Those who kept the commandments Before Jesus will Have the eternal Life.
** It is a Matter of Fact That All Of These commandments and More are mentioned In The Holy Quran and Obeying These commandments will Lead To the eternal life.
** Jesus Christ Didn't tell the Man That ONLY believing in Him will Lead to the Eternal Life, But Someone else came with This Baseless Claim, and this is a Quite Clear to be an attempt to Cancel the Teachings of Jesus Christ PBUH.
** Because of The False Teachings of Others You will Notice that There is so many people Ignore the Teachings of Jesus Christ and They are Sure that They will Have The Eternal Life, Because Those people Follow The False Teachings that the Eternal Life is Just By Faith.
** a good Example For The Point Above Is Those Who Commit Adultery Day and Night, Calling It "Love making" !! While They are in Fact Disobey The Teachings of Jesus Christ, Which is so Clear, IF YOU WANT TO HAVE THE ETERNAL LIFE, YOU SHOULD KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS, THOU SHALT NOT COMMIT ADULTERY.
** Those who Contradicted Jesus Christ and Promised people of Eternal Life are Nothing But Liars and Great Deceivers were employed to get rid of the Teachings of Jesus, and When some People Follow Their False Teachings They need to Know in Advance That They Intentionally Fooling Themselves When They believed That Those Who Don't Own Can Give Those Who Don't Deserve.
So, What is Your Opinion on Having The Eternal Life ?

You did not finish with what Jesus then said to the man, After the man said "All these things i have done sense I was a youth, then Jesus said "If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me."
Obviously the point here has been missed. he did not say do not call me good, he said why do YOU call me good, for there is only one who is good, God. So he was asking the man if he was declaring Jesus God. And later he says to keep the commandments, But no man has ever kept the commandments of God, NO One. That is no one till Jesus kept the commandments in full. The he said to the man in essence, It is good that you have kept the commands of god, now to be perfect sell everything you have and follow me. He said this because the man was very rich, and Jesus knew that the man loved his wealth more than he loved God.
It is easy for a poor man to love God, because God is the only hope the poor has, but the rich do not depend on God for their substance, They are in love with their wealth, Jesus said,"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to go to heaven.

"And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God:"
By which he means, by calling me good you are calling me God
That is clear and simple, no need for you to be twisting it with your dissemblance.
The next verse says
21 Jesus said to him, “If you want to be perfect, go, sell what you have and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
Clearly, following Jesus is more important than the 10 commandments.
But of course, with faith comes right action, and corrupt action will corrode faith, the two walk hand in hand.
By their fruits...

There is nothing like having eternal life. There is only for us to realize it.
We are already endowed with eternal life. Everything in us is eternal. When we realise this grand truth, we have eternal life.
Following any commandment is not required. It would be slavish to folow commandments given by other people. It would be far better to follow our own self, which is nothing but a part and parcel of the divine.
