How do you feel if one of your colleagues gets away with things just because he/she is the favorite of the boss. If you learn that he/she gets the promotion because of it even if you know you have a lot of experience rather than that person. Discuss how you feel about favoritism in all aspects.

The only thing you can do is ignore it. We have a "Precious". She can do no wrong, is always perfect, and gets so many extras. She gets 3 weeks more vacation than other people, for the same amount of time of seniority. If she does something wrong, nothing is said and it's swept under the rug. If you do the same thing, you're wrote up and probably fired. If you come up with a great idea and it's implemented, she gets all the credit because she obviously came up with it. Even if she's not even on the same shift. It's a fact of life and anything you say or do about it will just backfire on you. The bosses will never see anything wrong with the favorite, until they stab him in the back. They usually do, eventually. They just can't resist trying to climb higher. Unless he's the big boss. Then you're stuck.

exactly!!it's like whatever she does wrong or right she's always right and if you do something wrong even if it's so little you get all the attention that you're not listening at all etc. and then being compared back to her. i know we should just ignore but sometimes i feel its injustice among others as well and we can't do anything about it =(

Hi enciel, welcome to mylot. I hate all kind of favoritism because it is unfair and miscarrying. But unfortunately this kind of thing exist in every where. I feel a deep contempt for persons that are always flattering the boss only to take advantage from them. And I feel the same for the boss that accept it and give advantages for the flatterer. It take away from us all the will to work the best we can. Make our best is a must in every work I thing but after see some kind of favoritism we become demotivated. Have a nice day and welcome. Congratulations for the good discussion.

I feel exactly the same, i never liked favoritism even in any other form. But how sad that even if people know it they still succumb to it. And others even take advantage of it! And i agree that it demotivates people who experience this not only demotivation but also demoralizing to the employees as well.
