Am I stupid to own one? |
|
I bought a new set of personal computer. After it was tested and burn-in the computer store I was then very excited to run and boot my computer at home. But when I plugged all connection including the AVR. I have noticed that the computer does not work at all. I called the technician and asked him what's wrong with the PC. He finally asked me step-by-step whether I plug it to the power source. I said that I was sure that I have inserted the male plug into the power source though it was dark. He asked how did I installed my PC when it is dark? It was not actually dark because the room was illuminated by the window, that was quick responsed. He told me to packed the PC and return it back becasue I am not ready to own one.

1. smacksman (3815) | 9 months ago | He may well be right! haha
I was called out to a client half an hours drive away because her PC didn't work. I found the mains power socket switched off! I threw the switch and Lo! everything worked.
1. Just because you have a power socket, don't assume it works. Plug another appliance in to check.
2. Check the fuse. They sometimes blow.
3. Check you have plugged the keyboard into the right socket.
Good luck.

| mirmacs (28) | 9 months ago | Thanks for the tips, smacksman, I was too excited at the time to have a computer of my own. This will serve as reminder to similar situation that I have experience. I realized that there was really brownout. I laughed to myself at that time. excitement sometimes makes you stupid.

| mirmacs (28) | 9 months ago | Thanks for moral suport paula27661, actually I did not do what the technician told me to pack back the computer. I never checked the absence of electricity, there was brownouts at the time. Although it sounds stupid but I will never be overwelmed with excitement next time around.

3. ronharold (364) | 9 months ago | Do you believe that you're stupid? Is this your first time to set up a PC? Haven't watch anyone to install one? I don't think that setting up a PC is difficult. I don't anyone when I assembled mine even though it was my first time.

| mirmacs (28) | 9 months ago | Everything was rehearsed and the steps were memorized as the technician demonstrated it to me. There was nothing wrong with the installation. What I did not checked was the power source. The technician quick sense of telling me to pack back the PC was an indirect insult. He was quick to think that there was brownout at the time.

4. veganprince (3416) | 8 months ago | HOw can a salesperson tell you that? It is part of their obligation to see to it that you, the customer, know how to use the unit. Also, part of customer care is what we call the "after-sales service". It is not enough to just sell the unit, period. They have to it that there is customer satisfaction. That sales person does not know his work. He has to pack his bags and leave that kind of work.
