GM in Canada, the new contract

I can't believe GM and the new contract. Does anyone know how much the hourly wage is for the assembly line workers there? I think I heard that the starting pay was $18/hr. You know, I'd work for less money just to have a job, I wouldn't be greedy at all. I'd be satisfied with basic health benefits as well. But the new contract keeps the wages the same, no increase is a good thing, but given how much trouble they're in, why not take a small pay cut? I've been so used to working for minimum wage, that working for $18/hr would be nice, but I'd settle for $15. It would save them $600/month per employee. Instead of cutting jobs, why doesn't any company do that?

That sounds like a good salary - at least for me. Perhaps they have cut down their costs now.. Instead of cutting jobs, they could try a shorter work day too. There are many ways to help people, if we all were happy with less material things, we could share the welfare with more people. But if we think how much money is used for military equipment and weapons, we can only imagine what would happen if people learned to live in peace.. Imagine what the world will look like in the future: Micah 4:3,4 (New International Version, ©2011) "They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore. 4 Everyone will sit under their own vine and under their own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid..."
