| |  St. Patrick is the patron Saint of Ireland. The day is believed to be the day that he died, if i remember right, and we celebrate the day to honor all St. Patrick did to convert Irish people to Christianity.

In the US they just celebrate Irish heritage and make everything green for the day. Green rivers, green beer, wear green and have parades and parties.
