Okay, I had posted a discussion on whether people should by the offered warranty from the electronic stores when they bought their devices. My answer to it will be "no". What about cars? Would you follow the suggestion from your car dealers sales staffs to purchase those warranties? If so, why?
To be honesty, I am sure about the question. Because the cost of auto parts is too expensive to cover, if you have a broken one. For example, a corroded transmission might cost up to several thousands. If you have a warranty, will it be nice to save that expensive cost? Someone would say not going buy them, they have their own reason.

I work at a dealership and I would definitely recommend extended warranties IF you plan on keeping your vehicle for several years and think you'll be putting lots of miles on. I have an 2005 and when I bought it (used) I purchased an extended warranty that brought the coverage from 3 years/60,000 kms to 5 years/100,000. I now have over 70,000 kms on the vehicle and the extended warranty has paid for itself twice over. All it really takes is one big repair (ie: a transmission, like you said) to make the warranty worth it. In my vehicle is was a transfer case issue that would have cost over $3000 and I have had several smaller repairs - $300 dollars or so a piece - done.
One important thing about warranties is that you purchase an actual manufacturers' (Ford, GMC, Chrysler) warranty from a dealership. Don't get suckered into any after market warranties because they have tons of stipulations and many dealerships will not accept them because it's hard to get payment from them.

So, those after market warranties just piece of junk, after all. A manufacturer warranties have more guaranty.

For the most part. Sometimes if you buy an aftermarket warranty from a dealership you wont have a problem getting coverage from that particular dealership but you will run into problems if you try to take it somewhere else. All in all it's better to stick with the manufacturer's extended warranty.

I never bothered about warranty. I never had any problem with new appliances that I have bought. A car is something I have no experience with because I have never bought a new car. Cheers!!
