on somedays i feel so tired(especially when i am at my in-laws place)that i feel i will drop to sleep right where i am standing or sitting or whatever work i am doing but the moment my head hits the pillow,i become wide awake.what could be the cause of this and also what remedy do you suggest???????

I do the same thing, I find myself dragging my feet during the day, and wide awake half the night. I recently went to my doctors, and she recommended that I go for a sleep test. So tonights the night, the hospital called yesterday and asked me to be there for tonight. I wish I could help you with your sleep.. Its so hard to function on a daily basis without it.

this is not on everyday basis but do tell me what the doctor advised.(i am curious now)

You are the mother of young children. Thats one reason. You look after the house. That's another. So by the nd of the day you are physically and probably mentally tired. However, when you go to bed, you start to think about all that you have to do tomorrow and any problems that you have. There is no sure fire way, but you could try a definite bedtime routine. Tell yourself that you can't resolve anything in the middle of the night. Clear your head and Zzzzzzzzz.

thats a sound advice,ya,i do get fired up thinking what has to be done next day,now i try to avoid thinking and try to think something more peaceful and try to sing some spiritual hymns (silently)but my mind seems to have a mind of its ownrolleyes,i just cant concentrate for more than 5 mins.

I would also think sleep apnea. That's when you stop breathing long enough for your brain to wake you up to breathe and go back to sleep. Since your body is waking all night, you're tired during the day.

I used to be beyond tired all day, but couldn't fall asleep at night.

I use a CPAP machine, and am on antidepressants. At night I take melatonin to help me fall asleep.

this happens only occasionally,i donot want to take any allopathic medicines,would like to try something herbal.

Hmmm... Maybe you are just feeling stress???
Too tensed to sleep???
What helps for me is a nice warm cup of milk
Or an interesting book
Take your mind of wanting to sleep
The more you think about it, the more you are not going to get your sleep
It could be your lack of sleep that make you feel tired all the time

Please feel relaxed and do not make yourself tense, even if you fail to get a sleep after going to bed, you will get your sleep sooner or later. If our body is really tired and needs rest, we will go to sleep after 10-20 minutes. When we start thinking that we are wide awake, then sleep runs away from us.

lolPlease do not be tense, sleep will catch you up, sooner or later. Be calm and relaxed and you can do counting from 1 to 100 and so on. cool

i take something every night the dr. gave me. sometimes i sleep & sometimes i don't. you might talk to your dr. & see what he thinks. if he can give you something that helps i'd take it. it's miserable not to sleep altho ihave gotten pretty use to it.

don't understand why he is like that. if he was not sleeping bet he would want something to help him rest. there is things you can buy foe sleep aids that u don't have to have a script for. have u ever used them?

Same here, I'm so tired some days it is incredible. I sleep for 12 hours wake up and I'm tired tired tired, some days I don't sleep at all for 3 nights in a row and I feel great, like the day is treating me well. Doesn't make sense at all.

I tried energy drinks, coffee, and caffeine and none of them work. So, the best way is try a combination, drink coffee, then run for 10 mins, then come back in and take a shower, then try to do something that will keep your mind alert; it works, I tried it.

ya,cofee does make me alert,i have tried it.i used to drink cups after cup of black cofee while studying but i have not found anything which will help me to sleep.

Please have your blood pressure checked. It could be too low or too high. I suggest you do morning exercises at least 45 to one hour a day. This will enhance your ability to sleep easily. Also give yourself some break to avoid feeling so tired.

my blood pressure is normal,slighty on the loweer side.i have heard exercises are good,i will try it.

I don;t know make sure you eat properly, you get exercise, sleep enough, take vitamins, get outside and exercise, even do some meditation, all these things should help you if not go to the doctor for blood tests.
