Are You Happy With Your Weight and Body?  |

I realised for the first time today, that I am officially UNhappy with my weight. I went to the doctors regarding my pill, and obviously the do they basic check ups, including weight check ups. Last year I weighed 62Kgs, and this year I now weigh 70kgs, which is equal to about 11 Stone. I could not believe I had put on so much weight, I am 5foot 6, and I knew I'd put on a tiny bit of squidge, but I didn't think it was that much. Granted, the weather here has been terrible for the last two years, making it much more difficult to get out and about, and my body has been conditioned to eat stodgy wintery foods. But it's now really got to me, and I'm desperate to lose my excess weight, and I don't really know how. I no longer feel sexy in my own body. So are you happy with your weight or not? What techniques do you use to ensure you don't put on weight?

I'm not familiar with the units of measurement across the pond. We use pounds here. I would say that the best way to control weight is by diet and exercise, and not just going on a diet but making a lifestyle change.
You could invest in a book called Dr. Weils 8 weeks to optimumn health which provides a great outline for getting started in a healthy eating plan for the rest of your life.
The biggest thing where weight loss is concerned is eating less the you burn on a daily basis. Adding in extra steps each day can help you raise the calories you expend.
You also may wish to look at taking out all processed foods. Our bodies do not process foods such as these very well and they end up being converted to fat. Don't starve yourself either because when the body is starved it begins to store everything as fat to conserve itself.

3. summerfire (210) | 10 months ago | I am at the happiest I have been with my weight in many years. Since November I have lost 30 pounds and by not actually dieting. I have also in the last month and a half been going to the tanning bed so that makes me feel so much better. I did my weight by walking a bit on a nice sunny day and just looking at nature, by pretty much giving up pop and even diet pop and I am really getting into water with a ton of ice in the glass and I hated water before, I do have pop once in awhile but not like I used to. I also gave up and form of alcohol as that puts the pounds on you like you wouldn't believe. I was a chocolate freak and pretty much gave that up one day and the more you don't do it the less you want it and I don't say never to candy, if I want a candy bar I go buy it. I also never take snacks and sit in front of the tv, in fact I hardly ever watch tv. I find better things to do with my time and time for me. At bedtime I have been turning in earlier with a book. Something I haven't done for awhile and I have been getting more sleep which makes me feel better and more energetic when I wake up. When I serve my food I use my fist as a measurement and that is a portion. If I feel like I want more of a serving on one day I do it. I just don't do it everyday. I am not really on a diet but what I am doing is working and believe me after a 30 pound weight loss you feel so much better and have more energy and it is also fun looking in the mirror and saying "Wow...you go girl!"

| Jamton (52) | 10 months ago | See what gets to me is that I don't like chocolate, I don't drink alcohol, infact the only thing I drink is water or green tea, I don't get lots of excersise because of the weather but I'm not ridiculously unfit. My only weakness would be savoury foods, nearly all of which I adore. I just can't get over how much weight I've put on and it really gets to me lol. Oh well, I'll lose weight sooner or later I guess, with lots of hard work!

summerfire (210) | 10 months ago | Maybe if you limit the amount of the foods you were discussing to once a week..how many meals do you eat a day because you should eat three with a couple of healthy snacks in there and what about portions, do you eat whatever you want?

| Jamton (52) | 10 months ago | No, I eat three meals a day, Usually toast for breakfast to keep me going, a healthy salad based meal for dinner, and then a big tea. I rarely eat snacks because I don't enjoy chocolate. I don't know why the weight has piled on, but I am going to try excersise a LOT, as I think this is the only way I will lose weight. I'm sure with perseverance I can manage it, and I am getting my boyfriend to help me! Wish me luck, and happy mylotting!

| Jamton (52) | 10 months ago | Yeah it was the doctor who told me I'd gained weight, but also told me that it was fine and healthy, but healthy isn't all that matters to me, not because I'm vain, just because when I have extra weight I feel really uncomfortable with myself.

Do not get me wrong I do love myself but I do need to lose some weigh so that I will be fully happy with myself. I am doing my best to lose weight.

I joined weight watchers last October and I have lost 35 pounds since then. And I am starting to feel better about the way I look. I have a lot more weight to lose, but I know I can do it. The key is eating right without depriving yourself and to exercise (cardio and weight lifting both). Good luck with your weight loss.
