Hello! There is no harm if you sleep even nine hours.Previously(in 1960s) people were sleeping an average of nine hours. But now because of competition levels at working places and high levels of aspirations and ambition has resulted in longer working hours and hence we all sleep less than we used to sleep in 1960s.However if you can find time to sleep for eight hours and more than there will be no harm for your metabolism.thanx.

Hi,
If U sleep 8 hrs,in 24hrs- U'll gain weight.u'll become lazy.
These are associated with heartcomplications & diabetes(Obesity).
But,Do U want more sleep or Better sleep?Possibly,U may sleep longer but the sleep is disturbed(e.g-Stress,nutrition,outside disturbance etc). The other reason could be that U donot want toFACE DAY(u may not admit),b'cz Ur not motivated enough!
So,the take jhome:- Get Better sleep,Get motivated1

I don't think there would be any problem in sleeping more time. Different people sleep at different hour and takes different amount of hour. Before I used to work in night shift for around 4 years and I used to sleep in the daytime. Now a days I sleep during the night and work at day. There is nothing as beautiful and enjoyable as a sweet sleep.

I am not sure if there are any harm if someone sleeps more than 8 hours. I used to sleep that long when I was still a child until high school. When I entered college I only sleep 7 hours or less especially when there are exams. When I got my job in a call center after graduation I used to sleep an average of 6 hours a day. Then I got married and had a baby. He is now 5 and a half months old and I only sleep when he is sleeping. Sometimes he sleeps and I do the household chores so I really lack long sleep. My longest sleep would be 3 to 4 hours a day so I take a nap when he is sleeping. I have observed based on my experience on different sleeping hours that the more sleep I get the more sleepy I tend to be. The less sleep I get the more active my mind and body is. But I also have noticed that when I sleep about 8 hours I seldom get colds. Now that I only sleep less I rarely loose my colds. I feel irritated when my sleep is cut because my baby cries at night but I am already used to it. I think people's sleeping habits are in a case to case basis. Some can last for a day without a sleep like my husband and some can't have enough energy when they were not able to complete 8 hours or sleep or more. Anyway I prefer a straight sleep of 6 hours than sleeping every 3 to 4 hours because it gives me headache. Good thing I am a full time mom and wife so I can sleep whenever my baby is sleeping. I even sleep sometimes when I really can't move my body due to tiredness even my baby is awake and just playing.

I strongly believe the individual sleeping needs vary considerably from person to person. People say 6 to 8 hours of sleep are acceptable for adults. Children can sleep for 8-10 hrs and old aged people don't sleep more than 5-6 hours, generally.
I personally feel there is nothing wrong if you sleep for 8 hours. If there is a shortage in this duration and if you feel tired, sleepy, get head ache or get irritable , then it means that your body constitution requires 8 hours of sleep. If you feel healthy, brisk and normal with your quota of sleep, I don't think you have to reduce your sleeping hours.
Personally, my quota of sleep requirement now at my fifties is about seven hours. If I sleep less at night, I compensate it in day time. During my thirties and forties I was sleeping for at least 8 hours. During my schoold days, I was sleeping for 9 hours.
At this age, excess sleeping sometimes causes head ache. The problem of putting on excess weight due to sleeping in day time (to compensate shortage at night) seems to be peeping in.
Frankly, I really love sleeping. For me, it is a painless and expense-less way of enjoying a bit of bliss in life. I shamelessly calculate my sleeping hours and if any shortage is found, I compensate it immediately!
