Tradition or Animal Rights? |
| |
| I just read in a newspaper article that the indigenous arctics are allowed to hunt polar bears as it is part of their traditions. Do you think that it is fair to kill off animals for tradition? | | | | | |

| | I am pro-hunting. I hunt and fish myself. The game & fish are there to regulate that kind of thing. Hunting is a ritual and exciting. The excitement builds and the work begins with the kill. It brings a family together when they go out together and hunt. A child's first kill is something they never forget. | | | | | | |

| | Hi Kelih, I see. What sort of animals do you hunt? What happens to your kills after you have hunted them? Do you use the carcasses for food? | | | |

| | I think it's revolting to find killing exciting - especially when there're no reasons to kill than simply satisfying personal desires. Just because 3/4 of the nation not only believe people better than animals, and therefore animals are simply that -without feelings, desires or pain limits. So, no i dont think it's ok to kill off animals for tradition. Hunger? Survival? Maybe. But simply for the pleasure of killing? Count me out! | | | | | | |

| | Hi Sataness, yes I do agree. Most people do behave in an anthropocentric manner, where people place their own rights above those of animals. I personally do not want to kill wildlife for tradition or sport. I think that it would be very sad if we were to wake up one day and find all the animals in the world gone. | | | |

| | Hey, Well in my opinion, I don't really think that it is very good or advisable to go killing off polar bears just because it is part of your tradition. Honestly, if the polar bear population is going down at a really fast and rapid pace, I think that they should just stuff their tradition, and stop doing it. This is how many animals become extinct, because their are many people who hunt down animals for tradition or because it 'tastes' good. Similarly, other countries hunt down whales, because they say they use it for research, instead they treat it as a delicacy and eat the whale. Sadly, the whale population is going down, and maybe soon some species will become extinct. | | | | | | |
