Philly's Phinest - in the news, yet again!!

Personally, I'm glad I didn't grow up in the city - especially THIS city. I learned to respect and appreciate the police. If I had grown up here, I'd have distrusted and disrespected them as much as many others do. As it is, I don't trust cops in Philly because of the way they behave and how often they're caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Year after year. And, they just don't learn. When you read this article, you'll be as disgusted as I am. I've often wondered, in general, how it can be legal to sell a product that can get you arrested for selling it. How does anyone actually know who uses things like this for illegal purposes? I wouldn't, unless the buyer walked in stoned out of his head. I've seen them used for coins, for jewelry, for school projects, etc. Just how do you know their use is not legit and how can someone be arrested for selling something otherwise legal to sell?? Isn't that the ultimate "Catch 22"? http://www.philly.com/philly/hp/news_update/20090330_Video_sharpens_focus_on_raid.html?page=1&c=y What do you think? Should this guy have these charges removed from his record? Should he be reimbursed for damages caused illegally by the police? I hope each and every one of the officers involved loses their jobs and can never again work in law enforcement. They don't deserve the power or the respect. Do you agree?

The Police Commissioner thinks that this is "pretty serious". I wonder what he regards as "outrageous and an abuse of police powers". This sounds to me like a sting operation deliberately aimed at a relatively vulnerable member of society. I wonder if the nice WASP that runs a similar store in a good neighbourhood got treated the same way? If found guilty, the officers concerned should all be imprisoned and denied employment in any public office ever again.
