Has anyone here been to turkey and tasted real Turkish food? I don't mean from cheap restaurants I mean from high class restaurants or from a Turkish family's home. They have a few dishes that are known worldwide like baklava, Turkish delight, doner kebab and halwah of course there are many more. Well if you are wondering where to go on vacation this year you may want to consider Turkey to treat your taste buds.

Hi norahfaith,
Sounds very nice but I don't think I can get a holiday this year as I am no longer working as I am now disable.

Hi! I haven't been in Turkey, but my Husband does and stayed there for few days. He can't really remember the names of the food he had, but he said it's pretty tasty. We are currently living in Egypt and I think some of the food here is quite similar, I have tried baklava, basboussa and some other sweets and I really like it. I've also eaten kebab and I'm not sure about doner kebab! I haven't heard of halwah, but I will try to ask some friend here, maybe they also have it here.
