How to get them in BED  email this discussion to a friend?

jayb88 (41) 3 years ago

Ok, i have six children, as some of you may know, but I never had this problem before. My four oldest were easy. They would go to bed when told, and would fall asleep quick and easy. This is not so with my two littlest ones. They are 3 and 4 years old, and they are impossible. I swear bedtime is like a never ending struggle. I dread bedtime each and every night. I have tried everything I know of to get them to go to bed. I've read them stories, sung a lullabye, kisses and hugs before bedtime.

Thats the normal routine. Its the routine I have with my older kids as well. So now Ive gotten to fussing, i realized I began yelling but once i did it and realized i wasdoing that I stopped. I dont want that added stress, and I dont want my kids afraid of me. Which brings me to my next fear. A friend of mine threatens to pull out the belt. Granted she says she just threatens with it and never uses it, but it still scares the heck out of me. i don't want to be that parent.

I also have no support from my husband on this. He used to help with bedtime, but now that these two have become utter nightmares he goes off to the bedroom puts on his headphones and listens to music. But I won't go into that too much, thats a whole other issue LOL. I also think that if the children would just go to bed in a sweet nice way like our other kids, then I think he would be more involved again.

Anyone have any ideas at all??

Maybe you should expalin to them that they should be in bed and should not stay up late at night. Especially if they are going to school tomorrow.
