The eleven man army of Indian team took the field after the lunch break, everyone just stood around the pitch...waiting. the umpires, the fielders, the batsmen; everyone just stood there doing nothing. eventually, the fielders got bored.....they took the bats from the batsmen and started trying out a few shots. the reason for this delay was strange- the ball couldn't be found. Sachin tendulkar motioned to dhawal kukarni in the dressing room to ask him if the ball was in there by any chance. the umpires got on their walkies-talkie to ask where they had left inside. after around 5 mins, someone threw the ball in from the boundary line. how it got there? nobody knows.

Well...i saw it and was surprised as well...I later heard from the commentators that it was taken away by someone to place it alongside the trophy for Rahul Dravid to gift him for his world record. The person who took it thought that the new ball had been taken so he took away the ball and placed it next to the trophy. You never know...those precious few minutes(quite a lot of time actually) that were lost might have been the difference between a win and a draw.

When did this happen? Well, its not surprising stranger things have happened in cricket. It could have been that both the umpires thought that the other one has the ball as i do not think the bowling team gets to keep the so i am surprised at the part why sachin was motioning to dhaval kulkarni to look for the ball in the dressing room. Or maybe he was signalling for something else and not for the ball. In all probability i do not they would have found the ball and a different ball would have been used.

Yes I have seen that too. it was really strange. But it is not clear to me what was the reason.

lol.i never get to see that as i was sleeping.but sometimes it does happen but in those cases it would be the batsmen hitting the ball out of the park.
