Help!! My 3 year old will not use the potty!! |
|
My son turned 3 in february and he is still not potty trained. He goes when he wants to but most times he refuses. He pees but will not poop on the potty. I don't know what to do anymore. I refuse to keep buying him diapers just gonna use them for night time use. I'm gonna have alot of laundry but it is just getting to expensive to keep him in diapers till he's 30..lol!! What can I do to make him want to use the potty instead of his pants. Please help..

1. kpendragon77 (171) | 8 months ago | Hmm, I am not sure what to suggest other than thinking of a reward system for when he goes and purchasing a book on potty training. Also, Good Nights has come up with diapers that look like underwear and boxers. Those might be helpful too. You might also try taking him to the potty once and a while whether he has to go or not. Make him sit on it or a few minutes. I did this with my daughter quite a few times. I also used those Good Nights/Diapers that give change color on the outside when they are wet. This kind of gave her a way of recognizing the sensation to go to the bathroom. I hoped this help a little.

2. dorisday1971 (2037) | 8 months ago | My daughter is three years old and doesn't wear diapers anymore, even at night. She never peed nor pooed in a potty but instead did it in our comfort room. Bring him to the CR every 45 minutes to make a pee. He should poo in the morning upon waking up

4. Samanthavv (824) | 8 months ago | This can be difficult! I used to work at a daycare, and one of the hardest things to deal with, was kids who didn't want to go potty when they were supposed to be potty training. One way to avoid it (although its late for your case) is to establish fun-time with the potty long before you begin potty training. My daughter gets to sit on her potty for 5-10 minutes before every bath. And she thinks it's a blast! She's only 18 months, but it creates a fun-association in their brain if you make it silly and fun!

momathome (259) | 8 months ago | He goes when he wants to but if he is doing something he can't be bothered so he goes where ever he is standing. He will pee its getting him to do the other thats the main problem. I think once he gets that down he will be good..

5. CJscott (978) | 8 months ago | Well, once the diapers are off, keep them off, even at night. Have great patience. Make potty time fun. Have your child get used to the sound of flushing, my Luca has loved to flush the toilet since he could reach it. Always encourage, never discourage, and have fun. On the plus side, he keeps his pants on. Luca takes his off, then pees on the floor, or poos whichever he is in the mood for. Potty Potty, trainers off blam on the floor.

7. westernangel (198) | 8 months ago | Not sure what to say, but we have a little girl that turned 3 this month and she still wears diapers and is not potty trained. We've tried and we've done the reward thing and everyone clapping when she goes on the potty, but...........people just tell me that she'll go when she's ready. Hope it's soon, for both of us

| 9. yytan77 (11) | 8 months ago | My son started to go on potty himself at 20months old. We trained him by taking off his diapers and when he feels uncomfortable after peeing on his pants for a few times, he started to learn to go by himself. He refuse to let us wear diapers on him now when we go travel.
There's some sort of diaper pants which looks like a panties for potty training. Maybe you can try this on him and reward him everyone he manage to go potty by himself. Good luck!

| Crinklepants111 (1) | 7 months ago | Okay folks, forcing children to get potty trained too early can mess their minds up. I was trained early and I missed wearing diapers. I also wet the bed ever night. I also became ill from Encephalitis and almost died. After that illness at age six I had to wear diapers again for life. But if you give your children time and let them decide when they are too old to wear diapers, they will usually tell you between the age of 3 and 4 years of age. Children grow up too quickly these days and if your child wants to grow up slower by prolonging the wearing of diapers and carrying around a blanket so be it. Love your child and hold him tight. You will miss this time with your kids.
